Question for TAP League Operators / Higher Ups

Ok, I have a question for TAP League Operators, Higher-Ups, or just someone familiar with the TAP Leagues inner workings...

Once you have a 'Tournament Established Handicap', and 'locked-in', how does that set handicap go away? And can you go from a '6' in last years tournament to a '4' in this years?

I've never heard of a Tournament Established Handicap. Your handicap can change anytime, just depends on the numbers.

Now if it is a couple weeks before a title holder or national event your handicap can be locked in two weeks before an event.

Players can be locked in for different reasons.

It is possible to shoot as a low 6 one year then a high 4 the following year.


I'm not a league operator or a higher up. I'm just one of the players that donate week after week...year after year watching the same teams and players win the money.:frown:

Thanks, but that is not what ive been told by many people, and in fact the following was taken directly from the TAP websites Forum, from a question regarding the use of Tournament handicaps (it is a few years old, but is still valid):

Yes, there is a tournament handicap.

The first time we used it was for this past National event.

When we "build" a tournament in the system as registrations are received, the handicaps will show as "0" on the stat sheet.

Once all teams and players are put in, the tournament module is initiated.

All table sizes, weekly play and all tournament play for local and national events are part of this tournament handicap. What it computes, will be the handicap for the tournament.

This past Nationals, we gave licensees 48 hours to let us know if they had a question or wanted a manual review done.

These requests were reviewed, but, that does not mean were changed.

Understand, this relieves our National Director, Bruce Williamson of manually auditing all players before a major tournament. It basically does it all for him.

Also, this enhancement to the tournament module makes ALL play part of this handicap, not just weekly play. So, if a player plays better at tournaments then weekly play, which does happen and for some vice versa, it is all a part of this calculation/tournament handicap.

For Rally in the Valley 2011, we will do what we did for 2010. After initiated, we will allow roster changes for a short time period. After that, they will be what they will be.

Players and licensees alike should be aware for those that are at the higher level of their handicap, it may calculate you at the next level handicap.

But all, should take action when I email and post to please review your rosters by the dates listed for review and take action as I direct. If you go into Display Standings, Rally in the Valley 2010 after the module is initiated you will see the handicaps it generated. Also, If all meet the deadlines listed, it ensures a smoothly planned and organized event.

So, yes, TAP uses Tournament handicaps.. I find it HARD to believe a tournament handicap can go from a 6 to a 4, ESPECIALLY in only one years time. a 6 and a 4 are VASTLY different players in TAP.... Any operators out there that can comment or clarify things a little, please weigh in...

Yes a player can go from a low 6 to a high 4. LOL...you will be told they must of been on the bubble when they were a 6. There is a secret system used that I'm not allowed to talk about.

I know how it all works, but you wouldn't believe me.

Yes, a tournament module is used for title holders, nationals, and the dream team events. Lots of players will go down in handicap using the tournament module.

You should go on the TAP website during the day during LIVE CHAT and ask the question. They are certainly going to confuse you with the answer.:thumbup:

As far as I know, Sam is the only owner/operator that comments on this forum.
