I haear we got lots of member who are what I call money players.

Would you continue to Play Pool, if you KNEW 100% for Sure everyone you played today, tomarrow, etc., would beat you.

So you would never win any money again.

I am not talking about Tournament Entree Fee, i am talking about playing One on One for MONEY...

I would stop playing for money, but still play pool. I play cheap anyway.

No, I would not.

No I wouldnt play for money if I had no chance of winning.

I wouldnt gamble in Vegas at BlackJack, Craps or Slots either.

Think that is strange, does anyone actually think they will win the LOTTO?

Ken

I'd play what i can afford. i'd try my best, if i knew i was going to win 100% then there is no fun/excitement in that.

What kind of question is this??? I don't think there is anyone on planet earth that is going to make a bet if they know 100% they are going to loose.

If there were a top pro in my pool room willing to play sets for $50 or so, I'd gladly shell that out for the experience of playing a top pro, knowing 100% I was going to lose. Hell, that's cheaper than lessons!

I try..

...to stay away from slueths stupid posts (all of them) but here goes. I play pool because I love it , sometimes I bet on myself for fun or to keep score. Some people I play will only play for money so to humor them I play for money too.

I swear Pool Slueth the more you post the more I wonder if you play pool, haver ever spent time in a poolroom or even play at the rec center at Golden Acres Retirerment Villas. Pool Slueth looking for a Pool Clue.

Think of it as a Possibility, you know you will never win again like in the TwilightZone...

PoolSleuth, I heard you say once you have 29 tables in your rec room. There's got to be some players. Does anyone ever match up on them?

knowing you can't win is a perfect gambling situation. Just play your heart out, lose, and before the match, have someone lay off a bet for you to lose! sounds scummy, but were talking hypothetically here right. Not to mention, the main reason to gamble besides experience, is to make money!:D

I get it. So basically your asking if the money players would quit pool or keep playing but for fun. Its a question about genuine love for the game, no?

Watching a great Pro win a match very easily, is not a $50 lesson in my estimation. It's a $50 bet you can't win. I can buy a great 4 hour Video, that even has some verbal instructional dialogue, for half that cost, plus I can rewind & replay that Video, until I TRULY understand the shots & can apply the knowledge to my game.

Playing $50 sets with someone who easily conquers me, is more like expensive entertainment, IMHO. Hell, what do I know, I'm 64 years old & have played good pool for 50 years.

Don't mind me.... Good Luck with your lessons

Nonsensical ...

I imagine a lot of things, very few ever come close to coming true ...

That will never happen ever, because I make better matchups than that, usually with at least a 60%+ chance to win. I don't run around like a rabid dog to find a money match, almost all come to me, and I pick and choose what I want ... If they don't like what I offer, we don't play.

Too try and answer you question, I hear a lot of talk about playing Pool for money, and little talk in comparison to playing for the love of the game, or challenge of the game of Pool.

I personally find PLAYING POOL Entertaining, and Stimulating as after a Break Short for the most part no one knows 1005 what we be left on the table, and where the balls will lie. That is the New Challenge of eace new game of Pool in each game you play.

I have been around several ADDICTED GAMBLERS, who only GAMBLED for the Rush of the Betting of Money, and winning or loosing was a post finish high, or post finish let down.

These Gamblers would bet on anything from a Horse Race, Dog Race, or Pro Sports Game, to what Cockroach would make it across a Restaurant Dinning Room. There were in my opinion GAMBLING ADDICTED.

Those who love and are challenged by the game of Pool I think would still play if they could NEVER BET on a Pool Game again. Those who love the ACTION or Gambling ASPECT of Pool, should Gambling be no more I think would find a new source of Gambling Action, and give up on Pool.
