Hi, I am 8 year old girl (Molly) and just started playing pool on my daddy's table. You are his favorite player and mine too. We love to watch you on tv.

For my first stick (daddy's buying), do you recommend a child's stick or a regular stick?

Molly (or Mollys dad),

Jenn hasn't posted in a couple of days so she may be busy. I don't know if there is a formula for childrens cues or not(maybe 3/4 of childs height?) but if dads serious about his pool playing he could get Molly a 40"-42" jump cue(kill 2 birds with 1 stone)! Or I believe Meullers(poolndarts.com) may carry childrens cues.

EDIT: Just checked...no childrens cues but they do have 36",48" one pc. house cues and the Robin Dodson Frog jumper(42") and Tadpole jumper(40") each comes with 2 shafts (jump and regular) for about $80.

In magazine ads www.frankscenterinc.com lists kids cues.

I just tried my recommendation. They have a catagory for youth cues but no inventory listed under that catagory. Maybe they could be of assistance by phone?

dont use a jump cue,

the jump cue may be the right height, but way to light, try the shorter house cues. they are weighted heavier.

Thanks for the advice. Thanks for taking the time to help me and my daddy with the pool stick choice. This is cool. I love pool. Much better than school.

My dad ordered me two sticks that I can pick from. He's a great dad, now that he allows me to play on his table. I had to reach age 8 before he would let me play. I used to rack the balls and hold his money when he won!

I still hope to hear from jennifer and I have another question for her:

When playing on TV, who or what makes you the most nervious?

Hi Molly,

Sorry it took me a while to get back to you! I would agree with the posts that suggest a youth cue made specifically for playing instead of a jump cue which usually has a different balance and tip.

As far as what makes me nervous playing on TV, I'd have to say that I don't get nervous. A pool table is still a pool table whether it's surrounded by cameras or not, and it's the same game I play every day of my life.

It's great to hear that you love pool so much, and that you are starting so young! I'm sure your father would agree with me that you shouldn't let your practice interfere with your homework...even though pool is more fun than school, school is still more important! I hope I see you on the pro tour in a few years!

lol spells and the grammer is great for only being 8 years old lol I might learn some thing here lol
