Hello: I have a beautiful refurbished McDermott C16 cue. The joint size is 0.864 inch. The original shaft a the new second shaft are matching perfectly. In addition I have a 3/8-10 OB-1 shaft, which I like to play with, however it has a joint size of only 0.850 inch. Is there a way to increase the diameter of the joint of the shaft? I really do not want to touch the butt section. Can this be done by adding finish the the end of the shaft or is it more complicated? Any input is appreciated.

You could ask your local cuemaker to change the shaft joint end a little bigger and taper it to the size of the butt joint.

You could also thicken the shaft end with an epoxy finish... but I'd rather change the shaft joint

.014 is not very much to add with a good finish. Have someone spray it & sand it to fit...JER
