the answer is no....think about that for one minute, why would you want to put a super hard tip with a shock absorber b/h it? At the same time if you have really soft ferrules like the type meucci uses (they crack easy), then I suggest a full g-10 tip/ferrule combo...other than that your good.

As Greyghost says, no, you don't need a fiber pay using those.
You have to prep the tip and ferrule to be very flush to make sure it sticks and doesn't pop off though. Also need to roughen them up a little where you glue them together.
