why does the CB pops out of the table?

any of these are true?

1. hit the CB too low?
2. object balls are racked loose?
3. object balls are dirty?
4. hit the front object ball half of it's side at full speed?
5. you are just one heck of a wrecking crew?

Probably hitting down on the cue ball. Gives it a little jump and when it hits the one ball it catches air.

Hey there

Well, first off the cue is not leveled and that because the rail won't allow it so the CB actually jumps toward the rack and bounces like when bouncing rocks on water. If the CB hits the apex ball off it's center while it bounces then it'll bounce off at the tangent line angle and off the table.
If it hits the apex ball dead center then it can only bounce up and land back down at the center of the table.

When doing a cut-break, it is important to make sure that the cue ball will finish its bouncing before hitting the rack.

I use a G10 tip without problems.

The way I show someone how the ball leaves the table when you break is to place a nickle in front of the direction the cue ball is going in to break about 4 - 5 inches if front and tell the person to hit the cue ball like they would if they were breaking the balls and the cue ball never touches the nickle which shows them how the cue ball will bounce down the table before stricking the rack of balls. Good example to prove your point.

Another way is to just look at the table. Unless the cloth is pretty new there will be white "bounce marks" between the head string and the rack that show graphically where the CB first hits the cloth (usually about 1/3-1/2 the distance to the rack, I think).

You're hitting down on the CB cause it to raise off the cloth as it heads to the rack-- plus either 1 or 4 or a combination of all 3.

The nickle, or quarter trick is a good way to show people how the cue ball rises off the table, the idea is that it comes back down as it impacts the rack. If it is still off the table then the cue ball will hit above the center of the head ball and jump up.

I used to think this was a bad thing, and it is for almost anyone, except Larry Nevel! He consistenly breaks a rack of 9 ball and the cue ball jumps about 2 feet strait up, all the balls clear and the cue ball drops strait down. It's pretty incredable how powerful his break is even when loosing power like that. I've heard he's broke lights like that several times.

I saw mike coltrain nip the rack once and hit some poor guy in the nads....
OUCH!!
I also saw a buddy nip the rack and sent the cueball flying throguh the air about 10 feet and stuck it through the jukebox...
Man the owner was pissed!!!

I used to knock the cue ball off the table all of the time because I do hit the cueball very hard. Probably 60% of the time. What I did to solve this was practice hitting softer but more precise on the cue ball. Lower the back of the cue and make sure I was hitting the ball intended. In 8 ball I always aim at the second ball. After getting the accuracy down I gradually increased the speed. Now I probably launch the ball one out of 10 breaks and that is ALWAYS because I lose focus on the cueball.
