Questions about Predator Cues

Anyone own one? (sorry guys, I'm relatively new to the forums). How are the inlays and the overall quality?

Are any of Predator's cues made in China?? Or all American made?

Finally, does anyone know if the new P3 is worthy of playing with?

Thanks for the input!

All predator cues are now made in china. They play good and low deflection technology works really well. You cannot compare them to custom cues but still the lower end predators are real value for money.

I played with wrapless P3 few months back and did not like it much. However i tried a white p3 last week and it was the best predator i have ever played with. P3 have slightly thicker butt dia and ikon series have leather wrap and thinner dia.

Good luck:thumbup:

Odd that you said "white P3" cause I was thinking of the white one in particular.

I feared that Predator cues were made in China.... my Scorpion cue shoots fine but the inlays were terrible (also made in China). I guess I'll be looking for either Mezz, Fury etc.

How about the shafts? Are they as legendary as people say they are? People in my pool hall are..... they just play with whatever they find.. When they are drunk they are even more pro!

If you can bear the looks and carry it, the white p3 is very good cue.
You can go for Predator or mezz, play few years and still get some money back. I have no experience of fury cues. If you buy a predator sneaky pete, it is best value (app300usd) for money and play as good as anything.

The shafts come in two size 314-2 is 12.75mm and Z2 is 11.75mm

If you can learn how to use the low deflection shafts they work really really well. But people dont like them and play with traditional shafts. It is upto you how can you adapt.

You can try some players cues in your local pool rooms and see what you like.

Its not the cue, its you

Predator cues

I believe Predator shafts are the best tool in the game of pool for years but as for whole cues, thats a different story.I've known of 3 people that said there P'3 is not as close to quality as the P2 that was the only cue Predator ever built from top to bottom. As far as the cues that are now built in China, and I've played with all of them,I'll be dead honest with you .I'm no slouch on the table and have bought and sold cues for years and most Predators hit great because of the shaft, but the balance of the cue can be a big part of being totally comfortable with a cue.In my opinion the best hitting Predator that has come out of China since the move is the Quiet Roller#2,which I've said on another thread and still believe. The woods are real nice and the cue's balance and hit for me felt like I had a remote control for the cueball. Its the most solid hitting cue since the P2, and in my eyes could be the best hitting cue Predator has ever made. Its not very fancy just the natural look of the woods without points, which personally I like. What it lacks in fancy looks ,it makes up with fancy hit and playability. The radial pin was a twist for Predator, but worked great. If your looking for a well priced cue with a priceless hit,try the Quiet Roller#2,you can thank me later.Goodluck:smile:

hi there,

imo you can t compare Predator with Mezz- wouldn t say that Predator is really bad- but Mezz is by far one of the best built *series* cues ever. Those japanese guys are doing a f....g good job on these cues. You get a ton of cue for the money. And the shafts are also very good.

I play with a Predator Sneaky Pete with a Z2 shaft. I love it!!! As far a P3 I would probably go for a P2 instead, but it is just a looks thing. I don't like the look of the P3 it is too futuristic IMO. Everyone I know who has or has tried a P2 has never had a complaint.

Stick with a Predator

Don't get me wrong Mezz ,Schon.Jacobyand hundreds of others make solid cues. With Mezz they have alot of different low deflection shafts but still the common thing for most people to do is to spend a ton of money on a cue for design purposes, then they junk the shaft and put a Predator shaft on it.A solid piece of wood is a solid piece of wood no matter who's name is on the end of the butt, but it's no secret that what hits the ball matters the most and a Predator shaft is really the only way to go.

i think all of the predator cues are made in china right now.

the P3 actually does play pretty well. i hit a few balls with a friend of mines and i thought it would be real easy to get used to using it.

its a hair thicker in the butt though. thinner than a joss but thicker than the old p2's

Here's what I'm getting so far

Predator P3's = Mixed reviews

Predator Shafts = Incredible

Random butt + Predator Shaft = Makes an incredible cue

Predator Quiet Roller 2 and P2 = Excellent performance

Damnit people! I gotta head uptown and go see if I can try a Predator out. I'll keep an eye out for the other cues.

Random butt+Predator shaft=May be an incredible cue, may be not

Predator sneaky pete= Incredible cue and excellent perforance:thumbup:

Another question for you people who have Predator cues. It looks like their cues do NOT come with joint protectors. Does the Quiet Roller, P3, and other Predator cues come with a set of joint protectors?

Also, do their individual shafts come with a shaft joint protector aswell? It looks like shafts come with a cloth sleeve but not a joint protector....

Anyone??? I'd really appreciate the input as many stores and sites don't say cues have "they come with a set of joint protectors".

joint protectors

No they do not I think if you get the protectors made by predators they will set you back about 20.00 a set.

+1 on quite roller 2. I would not waste my money on the more expensive predators. The p3 looks like a cheap cue that has been spray painted imho.(just my oppinion) For the money with predator cues is sp or quite roller. Although i have never heard anything bad about mezz. Just have not had the chance to try one.

I bought a white P3 and a Quiet Roller #2 with a Z2 shaft and a 3142 shaft for each one.

I hope to let you all know how it plays soon. The only thing bad about the cues is that none of them come with joint protectors. I still haven't figured out how to change weights for the P3 yet.

The serial code stickers on all the items were VERY easy to remove and left little to no sticky leftover after removing them.
