1. Does he turn his hearing aid completely off? Can he hear the sound of the balls?
2. What type of cue does he use?
3. What's The length of the cue?
4. What's the weight?
5. Does he use a standard shaft or a low deflection shaft?
6. Is it a shaft that came with the stick or was it added?
7. Size of tip?
8. type of tip?
9. Does he use a break cue ever? I saw him in the us open 9 ball final breaking with his playing cue but it was a softer cut break.
10. What's his opinion of the predator products?

can give you a couple of answers...

he uses a old joss cue he's had since his early days i think, and the tip on there has been on a while to say the least - it's more or less wore right down to the ferrule - he seems to like it like that. he breaks with his playing cue also.

he did use an ob-1 for a while and i think he liked it, but apparently not enough to warrant him making a switch.

Here's his latest pics from Fujairah:

Those are some good pics. I took a lesson from an ipt pro and he talked about how your elbow should be at sort of a 90 degree angle when the tip is in contact with the cue ball. SVB is nowhere near that. It just goes to show you that you can be successful different ways.

1. He usually turns his hearing aid off when he plays.

2. He was switching back and forth between an old Joss East and an old Schon R series and using the same Joss East shaft on both. He is currently playing with a Pat Diveney Tuxedo cue with the stock Diveney shaft.

3. 58" for the Schon and Joss and I assume 58" on the Diveney

4. On the Schon and Joss it is around 19oz. Haven't had a chance to pick up the Diveney yet.

5. Standard Joss East or Diveney

6. See above

7. The Joss shaft is around 12.5 or a little less with the taper pulled way back. I am not familiar with the new Diveney.

8. Pretty sure the Joss shaft is a Triangle. Once again I do not know on the new cue

9. He uses his playing cue to break with.

10. Have to ask Shane on that one. I havent heard him talk about Predator products one way or the other.

Pat Diveney posts on AZ so he would be the man to ask regarding the specs of Shane's current cue.

Awhile back I posted some pics and review of the Schon that Shane was playing with at the time. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=77743

Thanks Jcin,

My instructor who has no internet had me ask those questions. He then had me get Pat Diveney's number which I found on his website and you can bet He will buy a cue from Pat. My instructor Gary spares no expense when it comes to cues.

That picture was after a complete follow through, not at cueball impact as your instructor mentioned. I agree with what he told you.

FYI - Shane will be in Colorado for a week or so starting tomorrow and is scheduled to play in a pretty good bar-box 8-ball tournament at the Colorado Cue Club off of 104th near I-25 next Sat (5/3rd & 4th (if needed) ). He won this tournament last year using a cue he borrowed from Dave Hughes that I now own. It is a rosewood plainjane Sabastian butt w/some nice ring work made in 97 w/a Schon shaft that measures 12.5mm at the tip but an inch below the ferrule it's 12.7mm - the cue plays really great and solid as you can get.

in that picture he has long since hit the ball and has most definitely started to get up off the shot, so you can't tell from that what angle his elbow is when he shoots.

Diveney posted on az that Shane asked him to build a cue for him and told him he didn't like a thick shaft so he made the ferrule 12.7mm. Here's Pat's website link: http://www.diveneycue.com/

Better tell your guy to hurry as I'd think the lines at Pat's door are growing exponentially! :D

I don't know when it happened but his butterfly sneakies, through dealers, have jumped up to $500. Previously they were $350.

I believe Sane said after using it for a while that he could not play with the Diveney so he is back to the Schon R2 butt with Joss shaft. If it aint broke don't fix it.

I think you are right. That's all I've seen him shoot with lately.

Hey I have some questions too...

What did Shane have last night for dessert?
What car does Shane drive?
How many first cousins does Shane have?
What is Shane's favorite color?
Which baby tooth did Shane lose first?
Has Shane ever been to Mississippi?
Does Shane like McCain or Obama?

Sorry just had to do it.

Did a post on Shane's Diveney pool cue a while back.
Could be an interesting read. And I kid you not! :)

Link is here, friend.

Hope you like it.

What is with the thumb nail of the ref in the 2nd picture shown from towards the beginning of this thread....creepy!
Well, obviously he's a vampire! He's just waiting for the chance to suck Shane's neck.

Sorry, just getting into the spirit of Halloween. :sorry:

cue specks

The cue is 19 oz. 12.35 tip if I remember right. He said he did not like a fat shaft. The taper is a typical pro taper. Maybe a little stiffer than normal. But thiner than my usual taper. Triangle tips. Evenly balanced. Ivory and ebony. Hope this helps. Pat
