hello
I am getting a used table and need to get new cloth, I have questions about the cloth, a new poolhall here has really fast cloth, its like shooting on ice, I dont want that slick as ice cloth, but i not want the wooly pilley kind the bars have either, is there a in between number? I dont understand the numbering system Simonis uses at all what does it mean? like 860 or 760 or what ever, can you explane it in other words? I understand the cloth is worsted wool, why cant you use 100% worsted wool from a fabric store? I see material there that is pure worsted wool for making suits and it really looks just like pool table cloth
many thanks,
wendy

Billiard cloth will have some amount of nylon content to it as well as the wool. The ratio varies with different styles and brands of cloth.

Also, it seems like some brands will get slicker/faster than others as they wear thin. You can see a little bit of an summary of the different styles of Simonis HERE although it doesn't explain what the numbers mean. Which cloth is best for you depends on what size table you have, what games you play most, etc.
