Quick question

Ground Chuck

Recently purchased a predator SP w/ Z2 shaft and everest tip..... As This is my first non-secondhand cue and I never had to have a cue re-tipped, I'm unfamiliar with how/if I need to prep the tip or what Im to expect from doing so. I've heard conflicting arguments in regards to sandpaper and assorted scuffing products, any input is appreciated

Ground Chuck...Contrary to what some would have you believe, you do not have to do much prep to your new tip. Usually whoever installs the tip will round it off for you. There is little, if any, difference between a nickle or dime curvature. It does not have to be sanded, pic'd, abraised, or anything else. Just chalk it, and playing with it will maintain it. Of course, this is jmo.

Scott has a good point. I can't remember the last time I shaped/scuffed/sanded/picked a tip on my cues.
Chalk and shoot!

I just bought a tip scuffer/shaper and it was my understanding you need to scuff the tip from time to time to help retain the chalk and get better english on the ball .

I haven't scuffed a tip in years.
