Quick super billiards expo review

I am seeing less coin op tables in pool rooms and pretty much in general. I’ve always suspected the popularity of 7ft tables was somewhat responsible for the decline of cue sports enthusiasm in the US.

Well, I’m seeing somewhat the opposite.

I think the 7’ tables, in conjunction with Fargo themed tournaments, are drawing a ton of players. Enough to subsidized 9’ action and events.

Check out the Predator table across from Jeanette Lee's booth. Carom tables have no pockets, so you don't have to worry about scratching. One less thing to worry! :-)
Somehow I forgot to take a pic of the 7 footer which is just a cheap looking piece of garbage but this here is the ugliest table I’ve ever seen and I’m a big fan of predator but this is a no for me lol I did see the carom table. I didn’t know they made one.

You need to get out more.

The model has changed somewhat but there are many profitable rooms in action. I have been to them.

No Lou you full of crap as your just guessing, as a business may look like it doing fire sale business, but is fairly keep doors open. Hard Times in BellFlower was that, a big pile of S***, that people thought was a gold mine or print press making money.

How I know this was Ken T owner of Hard Time Bellflower was in Phoenix for Tournament, we started talking, I mention you own that Gold Mine Pool Room, and he told truth. BTW incase you forgot Hard Times So Cal is CLOSED.

How many thriving Pool Room have you been to with your account and looked at their Books & P & L? BET ZERO? You remind me of the guy who always wanted to own a _____, knew nothing about business, lost his fortune because of no plan, not experience, and no understand of business. Like the Bar Flys that show up every 0600 to Bar with Buddies, for Drinking.

One thing I am 110% sure of I would never want to own a business again, too much regulation, and BS, and chance today of making a killing are slim. Not a Pool Room, or anything else. Besides my day of 70-90 hours a week are done, that is what a business takes long hours, and hopefully you make enough to pay self.

I played at HT and it never struck me as a money maker given its size, general condition, and SoCal rents.

And no, I have never wanted to own a pool room, lol. In any case, as I’ve said, from what I’ve seen I believe a pool room can be profitable. You don’t need to look at the books, you just need to see where it’s located, what shape it’s in, and how much traffic the tables and bar is getting. You can see things are going well at Griff’s in LV, Red Shoes in Chicago, Buffalo’s in NOLA, and even Teacher’s here in STL. I’m sure there are plenty more or we’d all be playing in our basements ;-)

Like I said you never know how a business is doing without looking at books.

Phoenix Metro area has lost so many Pool Rooms, and Pool Bars.

Reason wss they were not money makers. Soon or later the owners sad done not making .

No it’s the new one. They are making a classic design table
My son has an original Anniversary in fantastic non- refinished condition - talk about a classic design - art deco into pre modern —- it is just one Brunswick design for all times. Here it is in his home

Peacock Billiards in Victoria, BC, Canada is doing very well with 21 nines and 4 sevens. And restaurant and bar. The place has fancy tables and is highly decorated, including 8'x10' murals 'by' vanGough and Gauguin, etc.

Friday and Saturday the wait-list starts at 5pm and the place is full till 11pm. But there are some hours every night where you have to wait to play. We are in the center of downtown, so get many casual and non-players out for the night. We also don't have any real competition for a population of 300,000.

We have a 9-ball tournament every Sunday at noon that has been going steadily for 16 years. But we gave up on the Monday night 10-ball tournaments because ordinary customers wanted the tables at $24/hr CDN.

So it can be done; but not as an olden-days serious poolhall with no music or beer or hopeless teenage girls distracting you.

Teachers is always packed. Owner is a smart guy knows how to work tournaments to draw players and has them often. Leagues pack the place 6 nights a week!! He's got a liquor license which provides a nice cushion. Keeps the place clean and tables maintained. Class act, Derek.
