Quite awhile back

I think everyone in that video was thinner then. Some of us by a considerable amount. :smile:
 
Hey, that was some pretty fine shooting on your behalf. I enjoyed watching.

I recently got a copy of a somewhat antique Billiard Rules book that includes
straight pool. I am determined to learn but the one thing that screws me up is the diagram and explanation of ball placement should your last ball be in the way of the rack.
 
Thanks. Neither of us really knew the finer points of playing straight pool. We just shot when it was our turn. :grin:
 
Thanks for sharing Rich. That was pretty cool. I remember Jon Wilson coming out to Raytown Rec to play Steve Hassell a few times over the years. It was sad that Jon passed from an auto accident. I liked the arcade sounds in the background, brings back memories :thumbup:

Those are some awesome vids Rich! I gotta give Big D some hell about that sweatshirt next time I see him though! My absolute fave part is when it's runnin' down the players list and not only is it a whose who of Springfield pool from the exact time I first picked up a cue, but they have one of our boys listed in a manner that just made me bust out laughin'....from now on it's THOMAS SKINNER! Les Davis still had hair too! And good ol' Merle was lookin' well also! Really cool man, thanks for postin' those!
 
Thanks guys. Darryl, I'm fairly certain the cue Paul Huebler made for me (an Ivory King with custom ankh inlays) was destroyed in the wreck that claimed Jon's life. I was (and am) very finicky about my cues and just could never like the cue because of the sound it made when hitting the cue ball. So I sold it to Jon and he played with it thereafter. He loved the cue.

I've looked for it but have a feeling that cue is no more. Would have liked to have it once again to remember both Jon and the fine cues that Paul made. Besides, the noise that bugged me would be outside my hearing range now.
 
When I was young

I just wanted to say thanks also to Underclocked for posting these videos - these guys were my heroes growing up and riding my skateboard to the pool hall. I would not be the player I am today had I not been blessed with such great players as Rich, Mearle, Jon, and Darren. It was a much more simple time for me (no bills to pay.) Everyone on that video I would have considered my friend, there was one player missing and that was Phil McReynolds aka Pee Wee, he did not play in the tournament at Butch's but was one of the best players I have ever seen. Again this brings back great memories for me and skating to the pool room with cue in hand.
