After losing a few matches recently where I outplayed my opponent but my opponent was substantially more successful on the break than I, I have become interested in learnig as much as possible about 'reading the rack'. I know Joe Tucker has some stuff out so I will probably start there, but does anyone know of other sources of knowledge for reading racks, altering breaks etc., for example, I've seen Corey Duel seem to always find success breaking and do so with multiple styles of breaks, he looks over a lot of racks........
Thanx for any info,
Dave

I think it was back in 1999 that Joe Tucker introduced the original Racking Secrets Book at a billiard expo. Guess who was very impressed by the book: Corey Deuel. If you don't believe me ask Joe Tucker himself as he posts on here regularly. I think once he saw that material he started improvising. I myself bought the DVD when it came out in that format about 2 yrs ago. I'll tell you one thing, I play in a league and when my opponents rack I always read the rack on them, they say whats the matter, I just tell them i just want to know where to break from. They get pissed if they see the 8 ball or 9ball flying out of the rack. After a while you'll start getting more tight racks at least thats the case for me. There are some racks you just cannot accept so have them rerack. Another good DVD on racking is Kid Deliscious but Tuckers's is a whole lot better IMHO

I have to agree about Joe Tucker's book. I bought Racking Secrets and was really surprised at what I learned. Some people get pissed if I check the rack but I just ignore them. I can't afford the DVD right now because I'm not working {again:( }.

works for me

Works for me too. Nothing tightens up racks faster than telling them that you are just looking for flaws you can take advantage of.

I don't know of anything better than Joe Tucker's video out there either. I would recommend doing a search on Fatboy's recent posts though.
