If you have a hard time getting the balls tight, lots and lots of variables for that you have to deal with.
Rack for one could be off, try different sides of it.
Balls could be, and usually are if used for a while, slightly different sizes and a bit out of round, move them in different places in the rack, some may stick better together.
Table is not perfect in the rack, once again, often. In this case you may just have to deal with the rack being a bit high or low off the spot, as long as you both agree with it.
The MR really changes how the rack opens up, some places or players think it's too easy or is "cheating" or whatever their thinking is. I like it, especially for 10 ball. 9-ball it's not as good because you can really work the break to make several balls each time which puts an even larger advantage to the breaker. The only reason I like the MR in 9-ball is that the 9 does not go towards the corner pockets if the rack is not perfect, or you can't get it to rack perfectly. On good equipment, I'd rather use a regular rack for 9-ball.
