By now, everyone probably knows that I am in Sigel's bracket, how 'weak' it is, and that I am the sacrificial lamb. That's ok, I am still gonna come out of the gate gunning for him and whatever happens, happens. I am still going to have a blast one way or the other.
Last night, my husband Mike Zimmerman (a fellow IPTer) and Glen Atwell, who is staying with us and trying to qualify for the Reno tournament, (only needs to win one more tomorrow, against Brady Gollan), and I went to our regular Friday night 8-ball tournament.
I really didn't feel like going; I want to keep all my practice on 9 footers instead of 8 footers, but we went to eat first, and I had my laptop with me, so I could always sit there and gab online here.
I fumble-farted around the first game to someone who plays ok, but I normally beat. It was just gross and I lost. So already, I am in the loser's bracket and grumbling that I didn't even want to be there. I set up my laptop.
I win my next 2 to absolute beginners who could only pocket balls, but it actually got close and they could have won if they were only a smidge better. I'm still playing the worst pool of my life and barely winning.
Then I play Marlon, a Filipino - a pretty good A player and I beat him. Then I played James Davee, and I beat him. James usually is one of the finalists and wins a lot. Then I play my husband. Normally, he wins the tournament too and drills me, but this time, I kept safing him until I got a good shot and then ran out on him. Then I beat Brian Bach who went berserk on his 8 ball, and I ran out on him and then played Glen Atwell in the Finals and we decided to split, since we were all together. But we should play one game and he said he needed practice breaking, so he got the break.
He broke, made a ball, but whitey landed on the end rail. He tried a tough cut in the side and I ran out from there. Woo hoo! A big $90!
I think the tournament got Glen in absolute dead punch, judging by the way he ran out from all over the place against Mike Vidas today.
More good news: Mike and I were offered a huge sponsorship deal from the same company that also sponsors Mike Sigel and Loree Jon. I asked the owner who he would be rooting for when Sigel and I play each other and he diplomatically answered, "I will root for the winner."
