When I left, you were playing Martha Hartsell for 2nd place. How did you do? Who won?

It was great seeing Kerry Impson again. And it was a nice surprise to see Ellen Van Buren drop by.

YAY, I won! I am going to copy and paste part of an email to Debra, so here goes:

There were 46 women. It was the season opener of our regional tour with 2 paid spots to the WPBA plus $750 added. I lost in the 3rd round to Kerry (Kerrypro - used to be ranked 19th on the pro tour). I led 5-2 and never won another game. To make it hill-hill, I played a 2 rail safe and it wired up the 3/9 combo.

I played 8 back to back matches yesterday on the loser's side (for a total of 9 B side matches) and I am sore! Cathy Metzinger has won all 4 of the last NWPA tour stops (I only attended 2 last year) and I had never played her, but I won 9-7 (I think) in the finals. She has an awesome stroke and break, full table draw with an open bridge. Cloth was not Simonis, but Brunswick Centennial.

I did beat Ellen Van Buren from FL. Her and Stephanie? came up for it, and neither won a spot. It's funny, because I started getting warmed up. The closest person that almost beat me, besides Ellen (hill-hill) was a brand new local (7-5) because I played so badly in the first couple rounds. By the time I get warmed up, I am usually out of the tournament! Otherwise, I won pretty handily. I 7-zipped someone. I did play pretty well though. I had not beaten Martha in a couple years. I think it was 7-3 or 4.

Mike laughs and can't believe it. Other than a scotch doubles tournament last weekend on big tables (3rd), I played our weekly bar box 8ball tournament on Friday and that was my practice.

I had first choice of either San Diego or BCA, but I had to decline the spot. I can't take any more time off work and I am committed to a team in BCA. They would kill me if I dumped them for the pros. I am the only master on our open team, so they really need me. So I gave my spot to Martha Hartsell from OR and Mona Remedios from Toronto got the second one. Sigh. There were also players from Calgary - Joanne Ashton and Cathy Metzinger, Victoria, BC and Vancouver, BC.

On a good note, I did get an offer from the owner for free table time in the off hours, lol. Dan Louie is the house pro there and he watched me win. So did Toomanybugs - Adam. It is a 4 million dollar new poolroom, Parlor Billiards. There are pics and threads up on AZ.

Umma and Adam, thanks for sweating my matches. :)

Congrats Linda, way to go!
I would take the offer on the table time. For even the people who drop a hundred a week in there playing league don't get free table time at the Parlor.

Nice shooting- that was a pretty strong field.

Cathy Metzinger does have a great break. At Michigan City last week, Cathy broke one so loud, the whole room went silent.

Her thunderous break was followed about 2 tenths of a second later when all was silent by what sounded like and egg being dropped to a linoleum floor from 2 feet-the break of a never-to-be named fellow pro. Im sure she was a bit embarrassed by the contrast and I couldnt help but chuckle.

Congrats again.

Well, the only reason he offered is because I begged, lol. Before they opened, I contacted him for the house pro job. They offered it to Danny and they only want one pro. Good thing, because I have zero time now anyway. And it never hurts to ask. He liked how I played I guess and felt guilty? He also said he is planning a nice local open tournament.

They are very nice and run a great room, sensitive to the players. We did have to move from table to table between games (2x in 1 set) so that the sun wouldn't glare on us and the table. A few times I had to have the tournament board moved so it could block out the sun.

There are a few conditions to the table time - tip the waitresses, do not use it during peak hours and if they are getting busy. I plan on using it very infrequently and not abusing it. I am not bringing anyone in to play with me free either. It will be pure practice time for me. In return, I am naming them in articles I write monthly as a sponsor, so there is some reward for them.

Our table is being delivered (finally) Thursday, so I won't really need the room time, but you never know. Someday I might be in Bellevue during the day, with my cue and drop in. ;)

Thanks Nostroke on the congrats. That is a funny story. She backs up that monster break with some fine shooting and jumping too.

ROFL! Well, if I played the way I did at the Parlor when I am down your way, I would be happy to have a lower handicap. ;)

If you like someone to play with, just let me know? I am close by on a good day, under 15 minutes? Oh after watching you play most of the day on the B-side 9am-9pm "Sunday," I am glad to hear/see you got home okay... :~)

I will want a spot, I have not played in 11 years. ;)

Yeah, right.

I got home at 10:30, after helping them carry some of the tour stuff to their car.

Nice job Linda! After a week in Hawaii I need to recover from my burns. Gotta get out of the pool room and outside once in a while I guess HEHE!!

Here is a picture south of Kona on the Big Island.

ROFL! That is cute. Actually, it was alternating break format, so I did plenty of racking myself. :p

WTF, you had to give up your spot?? After beating all those champions? You deserve your spot in the pros. I would think your team would understand. Anyway, congrats - you done good. ;)

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I just have no time to spare from work for any more week-long tournaments through the rest of the year. They are being extremely understanding by letting me have BCA Nationals off and all the IPT stops through the end of the year. And I have to be loyal to my team, heck they wouldn't even let me stay in Reno and skip regionals. :p

My goal was to earn enough points to win the 2007 guaranteed spots in the WPBA by being points leader. Just found out that that probably won't happen either, as the first IPT stop conflicts with the NWPA Spokane stop. Oh well. :o
