Radial Pin question....

i have a question about radial pins.. are they the same as 3/8x8's???

chris

I believe their are a few different radial pins. The one I sell does have less threads per inch than a 3/8 by 10 pin, but the thread is also more rounded. I would be interested in finding out if it is the same as the Predator radial pin shaft.

here is a pic of the cue in question.... it looks like every radial pin cue i ever seen..

so then 3/8x8 joint protectors should fit then?

chris
I have protectors that fit mine, but we just call them radial pin, no size spec.

If your cue is an import ( except Lucasi ) it might not have the Uni Loc radial pin.
Imported cues like Omega and Varner have a different radial pins.
Uni Loc's is available with a short or long pilot.

That should be the regular UniLoc radial with a long pilot.

The pin in pictured in post #3 is the most common radial pin with the longer unthreaded nose...its the Unilock version. The pin pictured in the Perry cue, post #5 is the radial pin sold by Prather. It has the threaded nose and is not called a radial pin (legal reasons) its called a "ball screw" pin. Both of these are 3/8 - 7.5 versions. Now some of the import cues (Elite & 5280 just to name a couple) have a pin visually similar to the Prather version, but the thread pitch is slightly different. These will not smoothly screw into a shaft threaded for the 7.5 pitch. I have seen that regular radial pin joint protectors will fit though...the jp's must be tapped a bit oversize.
