Rail problem?

Gentlemen, I have a Brunswick Centennial that has 860 Simonis cloth. The table plays fine for the most part.

My concern, since most of the time the game of choice on my table is one pocket, it's very difficult to twist back balls that are close to the rails. I don't have much trouble with these banks on most other tables. If you hit it an inch or more from the point the ball will go wide. This bank is very common in one pocket and hardly used in other games.

I know that that I have the incorrect cushions on the table and I'm wondering if I change the cushions will that correct the problem?

The table plays very well and that is my only concern. The table was recovered a while back by Donny at SDBilliards and he did a beautiful job, I highly recommend his work. Any thoughts would be much appreciated. thanks in advance.

Frank, I'm putting new rails on Roger's table next week. You should come down and play on it, yours can play the same way with new subrails. Have you played on Nicks table yet?

but can you explain why he is having this problem? were the subrails bad to begin with and what was wrong with them?

Donny, I will check with
roger to test out his cushions and no I haven't been over to Nick's house.

When you say that you know you have incorrect cushions what do you mean? Does it have k66 when it should have k55? Cushion height could be the problem. Your twist banks depend on friction and spin, and there are several variables, including how clean or dirty the balls are, how new,clean or old the cloth is, and even the humidity in the room. New cloth has much less friction (is slippery), and the tranferred english has less grip on the end rail, and therefore less twist. You can practice some with a stripe ball as the object ball and watch to see if it is spinning sideways as it travels towards the end rail. If it is, for whatever reason the reverse english is not taking off of the end rail. The bottom line is that if you know it has the incorrect cushions, and Donny can put the correct ones on, and fix the subrails, that's the way to go. The twist banks will get easier as the cloth wears.
