Rails not fitting right??

I just bought a used kasson pool table that needed new rails. When i put the new rails on they seem to angle upwards instead of slanting down slightly like most pool tables I've played on.The rails are sitting a little high at 1.5". I'm beginning the think the angle where the cushions meet the subrails has been cut too wide. Is this something that can be fixed? Or am i just attaching the rails incorrectly? Any input would be appreciated.

did you replace the cushions yourself? what profile cushion did you replace them with? There probably no easy fix. Maybe you used U23 cushions instead of K66.

Kasson uses K66 profile cushions.
Check that you used the correct profile and you installed them with the curved side on top and flush with the top of the subrail,
flat side on the bottom. Sounds like you may have installed them upside down and if that's the case you're probably looking at
another set of cushions (and rail cloth).

I used the same rails that were on there before, the k66's. I glued them on with cloth side up which is side with the slight slope. I'm not sure what's going on here and because of my lack of experience I think I'll go see a professional about this.

Control strip (cloth) side up is correct.
The back of the cushion should match perfectly with the subrail when glued on.
In other words the cushion should not overhang or be shorter then the subrail.
If that's the case then it would seem someone modified the subrail or the K66 you used were not K66.

Is the rail cloth stapled/trimmed off inside the recess along the bottom edge of the rail? If the cloth is over the recess the rail will tilt upward slightly when installed and the cushion nose will be a bit higher.

The recess is called a relief.
The cloth is stapled and trimmed "within" the relief area.
