Rambow cues and shafts

The name scribed on the forearm is "Donald T. Owens" and the history I was given is he was some kind of well to do person back East, and an Athletic Director of a large club. I bought these cues from a person that found them at an estate sale. I had to buy the pieces one at a time, but I knew they would be collectable. The 3 shafts with the aluminum inserts and brass ringwork don't fit any of the 3 cues shown, but one or two have the same initials "DTO" done just like the Titlist Rambow cue. I would love to know what you think of these?? The dark african blackwwod forearm cue has a very small joint diameter, probably around .800 or so. The brass pin is loose and I'm not sure if it belongs in the shaft or the butt. Any ideas?? I wish I had the butt that matches the larger shafts with the aluminum inserts. I have a feeling it was the cue to have, you know, the one that got away...

I bought a Schuler cue from the same estate and it had the owens name on it like Rambow had written it, but it was a Schuler cue. You probably have wound up with some shafts that were originally made for the Schuler Carom cue I bought from the estate. They are Schuler shafts. Are you interested in selling the Schuler shafts fairly reasonably? Are you interested in selling the Ginacue? I got a pool case with the Schuler cue that had a airline tag on it from the 70's. I missed the Rambows he sold. Wish I could have got them all.

Thanks for asking about the Ginacue, I want to hold on to it for now. The shafts I bought sight unseen along with one of the Rambow cues. Believe me, he didn't give them away!! I paid big bucks knowing the chances were pretty good the cues and shafts were highly collectable. Here are the three shafts that might be available if you are interested. Or, are you wanting to sell the butt that matches my shafts??? The print on the one shaft looks like Rambow printing. The other two have no initials. One shaft measures 27 1/2" long (smallest ferrule about 11.5mm) the other 2 are 28 1/2" long and closer to 12.5mm. All are 5/16-14 threads, and they take a much shorter joint pin than normal (about 1/2").

The Schuler cue is a very early cue made from a titlist blank. It has a ugly orange fishing line wrap. I really don't want to sell it as it is probably the earliest Schuler I have seen. The guy that was selling off that estate didn't know what everything was. I am not sure if having five shafts instead of only two will add much more value to the Schuler. But if you want to sell them let me know the price.

how much are the funky old cases

Those old cases are junk. Everyone tells me they should be given away. Besides, there's no where to store chalk or supplies. I can't believe someone would make a case like that. I think I paid $20.00 a piece for them from some old guy that was down on his luck. I felt sorry for the old chap. Probably paid too much!!!

You just need to hacksaw the other end off your cases to make a storage space for your chalk and stuff (see attached)!

That's a cool case. I might have to find one like that. My wife keeps telling me I should take a hacksaw to the cases just like you suggested. Might have to give that a try... I think she has referenced using my cues as fire pokers too, or weenie roasters, my weenie I think!!!

Heck, if you feel that strongly about getting rid of those old junk cases, I'll give you $30 a piece. That should net you close to $100!!! Or I could buy you three really nice Guiseppe 3X6 cases that would hold almost all of your cues!

Nice stuff. I've got a couple of old It's George cases, a Fellini (custom ordered without a latch), and a Centennial. Just sold a crappy condition Kelli, and I have a vintage King Kustom Case made in Tennessee, probably in the 50s or 60s. I've only seen one other one like it in the Billiard Encyclopedia with a Rambow cue owned by Mosconi.
