Raphael Martinez...

Last weekend I played in the Fast Eddie's tournament in Houston and drew Raphael Martinez first round. And was soundly defeated 9-1. I had a few chances but could not concentrate to save my life. First time I had ever been so easily defeated. I've played Parica and Mark Tadd and those were both close matches but I ended up losing those as well.

Anyways, I remembered reading a thread about Raphael Martinez a long time ago that he had died. I even posted in the thread which came as a surprise to me because I did not remember that. The thread is linked below.

What I want to know... Is how did this rumor get started about his death? And did anyone ever post on here saying what actually happened or to at least say he is alive?

Raphael was absolutely amazing in the shots that he could make. Shots I'd never seen he was shooting in with ease. He knew the rails amazingly well. The only practice he did before our match was shoot the cue ball around 3 rails to see how they played.

Obviously Raphael is alive and well. He also is playing quite well and I was a bit surprised he didn't win it.

In the finals, he led David G 6-2, but David put together won hell of a comeback. It went hill hill, when Raphael mysteriously hung the 7. It was a good finals. David is playing great right now.

As to Raphaels rumors and so forth, I think it is better left unsaid.
