Rare Frank Paradise

This one is rare in that it is EBONY, all original, veneers are faded but traditional titlist, purple, green and brown, SS joint. my bet is he used a titlist blank.

When I bought the cue in 1996, the Paradise shaft made for 57" had too much wiggle. I had Paul Rubino make 3 shafts, one at 57", 57.5" and 58". Eventually, the white plastic yellowed so I had Pete Tascarella make a shaft at 58".

For its era, the cue is unique in that the butt is thin for the time period and the weight of the cue is about 19. It is now 19 years for me owing the cue and it plays better than ever with Pete's shaft. Over the years, this has been my primary player, switching over the last few years with a Barry and a Tascarella. However, if I had to play one game for all the marbles, I would be most comfortable with this trusty companion.

Nice cue!

If you ever put it up for a raffle, I would definitely buy a ticket. Two in fact.... (Insert Eddie Money song reference here)

Bet that hits like a freight train! The best hitting Paradise cues imo were the ones with the full splices left intact.

I like that the veneers colors are a bit soft... Gives the cue an elegant charm. Very nice Phil

Thanks for your comments guys. I could not really capture it in the picture very well but the wrap is black nylon fishing line (I guess), original and very tight. Anyway, nothing fantasy but a great feel.

Phil that is a beautiful cue with a lot of history and craftmanship associated with it...certainly a keeper! Thanks for sharing...

Did Pete clean this up for you?..

It was pretty much like this. I take care of my stuff. Pete only had the cue less than a week. I am sure he wiped it down but it is all original. I used to have a number of games at home. This cue has never made it to a pool hall since I have owned it.

Thanks again everyone. Dean, thanks for your thoughts. I am making a little progress but so slow. I shot some with the other cues I just got and showed, but could only stand for about 1/2 hour and paid for it two days. Guys, watch out for staph infection, I had it in the knee after surgery in August and still a problem!

I'm sure you do take care of your stuff Phil. It shows! In my experience with Pete, he always seems to do a little personal a TLC to the cues he touches that's a good thing. He's as good as any if not the best there is when it comes to dealing with anything a cue needs... Regardless it's a great cue my friend..

Paradise

Had the pleasure of hitting a few with this piece of history! Paradise was a rare breed, and made some awesome cues.
Thanks for the pleasure Phil, get better my friend.
