Rasson Table owners? any regrets?

To only say you are not fond of Rassons or that they are a travesty, without giving a reason as to why you feel a Diamond is so much better, is just meaningless jabber. By the way I do have a Diamond Professional myself but from what I have seen would also be happy with a Rasson. Their leveling system looks to be much more refined.

Much of this forum are really old people who continue to believe that anything made outside the U.S. is automatically garbage.

I'm old also, love my Diamond, but from everything I've seen, I feel I'd be just as happy with a Rasson with the right installer.

Ditto..When I was shopping the place I went to to see a Rasson wanted $1500(set up) as it takes 10 hours. I had to go outside as I started laughing and choking as this particlar dealer is the best of hacker installers. And I would have paid that if they could provide a perfect delivery. It's beautiful table. Diamond is a classy looking table its own way but not exactly a wow. Sorry to go off track but I got a really pathetic set up on the Diamond...By the time I had it redone $1500 was a deal.
Interesting (not really) that every set mechanic says they can handle the job. Their best client is a customer that has no idea how a table should be put together.
To the OP... old thread but follow up.. ( maybe you did..I did not read every post)

Buy once, buy right. I would only get a Diamond, no questions asked. A fantastic, solid playing table. Of course you need to have a reputable mechanic for set up, but that is obvious

Well if you feel that way then great, I’m glad you like them and you’re entitled to your opinion. My experience with them has been that I’m not fond of them. There’s a reason there’s a wait list for Diamonds and not for Rasson. There’s also a reason Diamonds cost more.

last i checked they were about the same, rasson may even have cost more. this was the rasson ox.

It’s called a sponsorship deal. Same as Predator and CSI
I’m quite familiar with “what it’s called”. Your reference here regarding Predator and their tables is no different, although I think they’re actually even a lesser quality than Rassons. As far as your assertion in your other post about “a bunch of old people and their assumptions”, well I’d say that’s an assumption on your part. As I said in previous posts, if there are those of you that like them or find them to be of good quality or playability, then good for you, you’re entitled to your opinion and preferences. As I also previously stated, there’s a reason there’s a wait list and a higher price for Diamonds. It’s build quality is superlative, it’s also established with a several decades long track record of its durability and quality, Rasson does not.

Oh didn't he. Sadly the hacker never learned from the right people. Couldn't care less how he finished. Loose bolts, etc.
Sadly he thinks he is mechanic. That is an insult. He is nothing more than a person with a hammer and screw driver. His picture should be posted with a line through it. More sadly he works for a local dealer.
You remember my Cent... that was hammered together.
But the Diamond ... I wish you saw it put together.. It could have been on Comedy Central. Authorized installers..Had 4 guys looking at their phones watching How To videos. Fortunately it is a 1piece. One less thing that had to be re-done by a different mechanic.

Anyway.. the sexiest table ever built is the Black GC4 with a light grey cloth. I saw one at a home show in a the late 90's. I started crying to my wife...tears going down my eyes and I'm repeating I Want One. I got slapped and dragged away.

To repeat I do like the Rasson...What can be bad about it? It's up there where function and fashion meet.

The Rass OX is a nice table. Hit balls on one in the FtWorth Billiards showroom. Played fine. I watched a couple of vids of them going together and they look to be a simple, sound design. Metal frames are the future, even the new GC went that route.
That alum. box-beam frame is stouter than it looks. I bumped the OX pretty good and it was solid as a rock.

Looks to be a solid table under the hood, but these guys are clearly installers, not mechanics. Dude needs to learn how to install the cloth. Looked like he sprayed contact adhesive on the slate at the side pockets. Also, beeswax instead of Bondo? Didn't super glue the slate joints? Yikes!

Yeah, i saw that. I was just posting to show the guts. The one i shot on played great. Had ANDY cloth on it and new Centennials.

As to their strength, wasn't it the OX version that five players jumped up on at the end of one of the Mosconi Cups?
If I remember right, they were all even jumping around on it. Says a lot about it's strength.

We have Rasson Ox in our club. Not a fan.
I feel like rails nose is too low. Rails play funny.
Sharp angles very tight and shallow angles follow goes too wide.
As a table mechanic. Table is very annoying to install too. So many small screws and plates that is not even funny. Also clothing rails is annoying because weird design.
Table is almost good but not.

Short memory Pro's...... what happened to one foot on the floor.

Thanks for the info. I’ve got a trip to Vegas coming up, I’ll have to go to Bang N Ballz and spend some time on their OX tables playing 1P and banks. Several years ago I played in a 9b tournament there and they seemed to play good but I didn’t spend time banking balls.

This is a hacker mechanic’s wet dream... Over tighten screws, extra screws. Extra parts....and tell the customer It'll tighten up after playing on it for a few weeks.....has to settle in😂

My club is mostly 'Acurra' and 'Iron Man' tables with a few OX's - I think the OX tables play nice, but maybe it's the novelty that I don't play on them as much and see it as a little treat lol
Think it looks nice and plays well. Gets a little less useage than the other tables, and therefore the cloth stays fresher and it plays a bit more friendly than the tables that get heavy useage.

Certainly don't have the same knowledge or understanding of tables as yourself. My hall gets a small army of dudes to come in for install, cloth changes etc

I prefer it to the Diamond tables at the club, also prefer it to the old Aileex tables that were there before (only know starting to realize just how crazy tough the Aileex tables were set up in the store before)

So people are saying this but there really isn’t anything to set up if you buy 1 piece slate. Mine went in my garage but they come already covered and put together.. It was on it’s side on the cart. They bolt the legs on then tilt it over so it’s standing. Put it right where I had it marked that I wanted it. With the leg levels and shim levels diamond has built in it took him all of 5 mins to level and he was gone. The table has never had the slightest of roll offs. I thought it might need re leveled once it settled into the carpet but nope it’s fine. I would say from the time he pulled up to he left was barely an hour.
