Rasson Table owners? any regrets?

trob, I was referring to the horror stories above. the fact that people do not stand behind their work is appalling, hence needing someone reputable. Especially if this is your livelihood....wow, must not like to eat. I have never built a table but seen 1 or 2 done, agreed does not seem that hard, but knowing the tips and tricks makes a lot of things look easy.

I thought you were referring to diamond tables when you said that but 3 piece slate tables and tables your building from the frame up take knowledge and lot of these guys don’t have it. there is no school to goto or anyway other then word of mouth as proof you know what your doing so it’s not a surprise.
Locally near york we had an installer recover 2 tables at a club I belonged to. I wish I still had the pics but I’m an amateur doing it and the first time I covered a table it was 100x better than that . You could see the rolls as you looked across the table from it not being tight. They refused to fix it and then threatened to sue the club when a member put the pics on social media. That’s the shitty world we live in.

I would never have paid them, then posted the pictures for all to see. I would not want anyone else to get burned by this clown.

Some really sad installers... met plenty at our clubhouse. We had 4 tables done...they show up late get itchy around 4:30. One guy left...the other went into hyper hack mode. Real shit job..

Well if you feel that way then great, I’m glad you like them and you’re entitled to your opinion. My experience with them has been that I’m not fond of them. There’s a reason there’s a wait list for Diamonds and not for Rasson. There’s also a reason Diamonds cost more. My initial reply regarding my reference to MR’s role in all of this, is that prior to MR taking what is essentially a large bribe to name Rasson its official table and using them, Rasson wasn’t really known or being utilized outside of Asia, especially not here in America. Not many new pool halls are opening here nowadays, but recently 2 new ones opened in my area, both installing Rassons as their tables, with that hideous gray cloth. When I inquired to the proprietors why they made this choice, they both referred to “it’s what the pros are playing on now”. So while I agree that MR can do what they want to do on THEIR tour and accept large financial deals from companies to use an inferior product, it’s having an effect in the pool world in that it’s influencing halls to use them. Frankly I don’t care what the pros play on, but I feel they deserve to play on the best, not on who pays MR a pile of money. Also with as few places as there are to play, I’m disillusioned to see the domino effect of halls utilizing them over better equipment like Diamonds. That’s my opinion of it, YMMV.
There’s one Rasson table in my town, Fresno, and it’s at The Rack. Classic Billiards in Clovis is now basically all Diamond Tables and Sierra Billiards, which is where I have an annual membership, is strictly Diamond tables. Half of the 9’ tables have 4.25” CP & 4.75” SP which are the tightest tables in town that I’ve encountered. Don’t mistake my comments as fondness or preference for Diamond pool tables. Quite the contrary, I don’t care for them because of the rail contour and height but new Diamond tables, like at Sierra Billiards, just appeal because of great condition. There’s also the added feature of having the tightest pockets in town so that why I’ve been a member since it opened. I played on the Rasson table. IMO, it was just OK.
