Rauenzahn Titlist conversion - trolls welcome!

Bump for a nice cue, and to give DaytonaJoe a chance to make comments. Like his very nice Jensen Titlist conversion, this one also has a shaft made from the original one-piece cue and if you have ever played with such a Titlist, you'll know what a nice stiff hit they give.

Again, I'm no dealer and this cue is being offered at exactly what I have in it, as the seller posted in the thread linked above.
 
excelent cue. jerry has made me close to 30 cues. for the money he is the best. he usually send me pics of random cues he does. im sure he does the same for you guys. i have had every cue maker under the sun make me cues. i been with jerry 2 yrs. turn around is fast and work is good. i tell everyone about him.

Ken, we can always talk! There is no pressing need to sell - just too many cues lying around unplayed.

Thanks Dave. Today I mailed Jerry an ebony Model 26 1/2 2-piece butt for restoration. After seeing John Marshall's similar cue, I couldn't think of sending it to anyone else. Only difference is that mine is wrapless and has a brass joint and the wedge is missing. This one should test Jerry a bit, as I'm looking at a restoration as opposed to making a playing cue....but it will play, I'm sure. :)

If anyone has copies of pre-1923 Brunswick-Balke-Collender catalogs that show available options, please let me know, as I'm unsure whether this had ivory or mop wedge, and whether it had a normal ivory ring, 3/4" ivory buttcap, stacked veneers, or brass cap. I'm thinking maybe brass cap because of the brass 3/4" joint and some strange configuration of the bottom of the butt.

jerry sent me a pic of a cue with a wendge a few months back. he does creat. he can do ivory or mop. he can fix that pretty easy i bet. i saw an oak 26 1-2 that bill shick did and it was amazing. im looking for some titlists to experiment on i started making cue a little white back and i love titlists

Let me know how you make out. I am still thinking of sending mine out to Jerry or Rubino. Still on the fence if I want to joint them though.

This is the third independent recommendation I have had to get Bill Schick to do a wedge conversion, and one was from another well-renowned cue-maker. I would be very curious to see an oak Model 26 1/2 with wedge - I did't even know they existed. The wedge ones I have are purpleheart, ebony and an unknown orangish-brown wood.

I chose Jerry for several reasons - he understands these old cues and appreciates their historical significance as much or more than any cuemaker I know, he did that great one for John Marshall that will be a similar job to what I'm betting done, I already have another wedge conversion he did that turned out incredible, he has been working on a template for adding wedges and the associated veneer work to Model 26 1/2 cues that do not have them, his turnaround time and prices are the best I know of, playability, and he works closely with you to get exactly what you want. In addition, he has studied up on these cues and between us I am confident the result will be very close to the original cue. The biggest hurdle will be the finish - I know I can get an incredible finish that will really bring out the veneers and figuring in the ebony, but the original finish was probably actually not as nice-looking as what Jerry can do. Kind of an enigma.

jerry is a great choice. im not sure if the schick is a 26 1-2 but it is oak and it does have a wedge with veneers. if you know don sherman and see him at shows ask him he has it. wants a fortuse but its perfect and i dont think u can find another one. i dont think he wants to sell it. gl get jerry. bill with have your cue for a year or more and others might be worse. jerry will have it done in 45 days or so...
