Raymond Ceulemans in Belgian competition

Hi all,

last month Raymond Ceulemans played in my club for the 2nd division of the Belgian National Competition.
For this season he teamed up with Ludo Dielis, Koen Ceulemans (his oldest son) and Richard Bitalits (world class 3C-player from France).
A lot of fans consider him playing the national competition as his farewell tour (since he is at the age of 86 - born 1937). His matches draw a crowd every time.

I recorded the game with an old smartphone (not the best quality), but I think a fan will enjoy this.

part1: Raymond Ceulemans - november 2023 - part 1
part2: Raymond Ceulemans - november 2023 - part 2

He played the french champion Cedric Melnytschenko in a race to 40 points.
He lost his match with an average of just below 1.000 - that is still high level playing.

If you watch closely, on the far right table, his teammate Ludo Dielis is playing (light blue shirt, born 1945 - age 78).

Enjoy ...

Very nice post, thx. One detail: his eldest son who is in that team is Koen, not Kurt. Koen is the father of Peter and Bart Ceulemans.

Richard, I met Mambo Fats at The inaugural one pocket Hague tournament, he is a great guy and I consider him a friend.

When I went to Bordeaux with our friend, the late Rich Weiss, to watch the World Championship several years ago I didn't get to meet Raymond, although he was there, but I did get to meet his son Kurt who was the emcee/announcer. Plus a lot of players I have idolized from Kazoom and Youtube.

Who is Mambo Fats?

Nice. M Fats is Alain who lives in Belgium and plays one pocket and 3c. Really nice guy.
