Re: Still trying to contact Don Feeney...

When I first posted for some help I thought that I would get at least 50 people who knew / knows Don.
There has been some people who have offer some information but none has got a contact for Don.

This man is an icon of the sport and it seems that he has just dropped off the face of the earth! Nobody has any recent or workable contact info? Strange!

If you have any info...it will be appreciated. Send it along to my addy:

I too have been trying to locate Don. The number I got from the retirement home he resided at was an old one and some new tenant was living there. I would sure like to know that he's ok as he was a friend and a great guy. Any help we be greatly appreciated. Philw

I talked with Don at the Viking Tour stop at Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral, Florida about 2 weeks ago. He is well and is living somewhere in Florida, but I'm not sure exactly where. He told me that he knew Jason Richko very well (who was also at the tournament) and spent some time talking with him. You might try asking Jason, if you can find contact information for him. Maybe he knows where Don is living.

I have a call to my brother-in-law and he is going to look for him in the Lady Lake resort.

I think that Don is living in / near someplace down in Fla. called "The Villages." Just our luck, there are a bunch of those Fla. communities called: "The Villages." Which one? I have no idea....your guess is as good as mine!

The Villages is a huge development just east of I-75 and a little south of Ocala in north-central Florida. I doubt they'll give out resident information, but the main phone number is 1-800-245-1081. Good luck.

I already called the Villages months ago when I started the first thread asking about Don. They were able to give me his number because he was a resident for over two years and it was listed. When I called the person that answered the phone said he used to live there with his wife but had moved sometime ago. Philw

This thread got the best of my curiosity, so while doing nothing at work I started searching. I knew Don very well back in the day when Preacher's was still around. Phil W. pm me I would like to know if we had been there at the same time. Anyway below is what I found on the Villages Billiard Club web-site. I searched for Don's stats but found none. He is not even listed as an instructor, which I found odd. However there endless phone numbers so I am sure someone there can help!

A simple Handicap System needs to be incorporated to "level the playing field" in these events.
A Handicap Committee headed by Don "The Preacher" Feeney, our resident Pro Instructor and player,
was formed to come up with a simple handicapping system that could be applied to all villages pool players

re: Still trying to contact Don Feeney.

I don?t know if it?s just me or what. I find this whole ?unable to locate Don? business highly unusual.

if we talking about a local player who simply wanted to ?retire? without a fanfare and just disappear, a lot of people would take it with a full measure of understanding. Many people just drop out and disappear.

However, we?re not talking about just person who?s just known around town. We?re talking about a well-known international figure in the sport. This man has one of the most impressive and respected resumes in the business.

It?s hard to fathom how such a looming figure could be this hard to find! Even people who long time activists and business people haven?t seen or talked to Don Feeney in years. All one finds are dead ends and bad links.

I hate to say it?.but did Don pass from us?

Popman, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I spoke with Don at the Viking Tour stop at Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral, Florida just a few weeks ago. He looked good and healthy to me at that time.

I did some searching and found a Donald A. Feeney living in Lady Lake, Florida. His age is 80 years old and one of his prior residents was is Naperville, IL on Van Buren St. This has to be Don.

Hope this helps.

Well done Mike. It sounds like you found him. Preacher did, in fact, used to live in Naperville, Illinois. I took lessons in his house there 15 or 20 years ago.

came up. I don't want to post it here for obvious reasons but if you do what I did you'll find it. Philw

Phil,

Have you called Don yet? If so how is he??

Mike
The most recent number I found via smartpages.com wasn't his number anymore. I'll have to go back to the drawing board it seems Don has changed his number quite often maybe he's trying to avoid us. LOL Philw
