i had an onyx tip put on my ob classic, if your skilled, i think you can save the pad. I just told the guy that re-tipped my cue to put another pad on. I think if you don't have the pad, it will void the warranty?
I retipped my ob1 and cut the tip just above the pad. Had no problem reusing it. It is very easy scrape it clean.
If you plan on having someone retip it, I'd suggest taking the tip off yourself and prepping the pad first just to make sure the person doing the retipping knows not to remove the pad with the tip.
Yes, we do offer re-tipping services. Call us for pricing and turn around, 877-399-9901.
And, of course, you can do it yourself if you have the equipment, or have it done by a local cuesmith. Take a look at the "Care and Repairs" section on our website for more detailed information.
i have a small lathe rigged for cleaning shafts and installing tips , i own a ob shaft , i had no problems whatsoever , if i can do it most likely anyone can:smile:
I had a friend that has a lathe and does small cue work, re tip the wifes ob-1. He took a chunk out from the center of the ferrule. He then just left it like that and glued a tip on it and handed it over to me but he did tell me what had happened. We had to re tip it and add epoxy to fill in the hole. :frown:
