Where do CueMakers get their Real Ivory Diamonds for inlays?
Do you guys all make your own, or is there a place that sells them like the MOP and Abalone Diamonds?
If there's no place that sells them, who would make and sell them?
If not, I gotta make my own. :frown:

I make My own.

I don't have a cnc, I just do the best I can with the pantograph I put together.

Here's a couple of pictures. The first one has some ivory diamonds on the paper plate. The other shows a template I made from corian.

I make all my own. As of tonight, I don't own a CNC, but tomorrow when the delivery guy shows up, that should change. I had patterns with my Hightower pantograph and you could make a lot of different sizes based on the stylist that you used.

I made all mine for 45 years with a drill press, a disc sander, and files.

You can do inlays fine with just an X-acto knife but a pantograph or CNC is a lot easier.

You can also buy them from Prathers.

Tony please post up some photos about your experience setting it up and operating it. Let us see your first inlays ... good or bad ...:p

Lucky dog, I'm jealous:thumbup:

The panto I built is a 1to1 like his, so It will use his templates also. I have a couple of them I got from him, but also like to make My own from scratch when I have the extra time to fool with them. Their not too easy to make perfect without some effort & time put forth, but with enough patience alot of basic designs will work out. I have to make styluses specific for some templates to work well though. It's also tuff to hand feed small endmills without breakage. Even If I cut the corner of the pockets In by hand, That effects how sharp I can get them without going into ebony & using epoxy dye, and I choose not to go that route, so I long for the day when I can get setup with a cnc:frown:

I was gonna build My first cnc from a taig mill, but hard to beat the price of the package Lee put together, even If you assemble the package yourself, and then you would still have the learning curve, not to mention any conflicts to work out with the equipment. Looks like he's handled most of that for a reasonable price. Hope You will give Us some feedback on how It works out for you.

Thanks all!!

Greg, Nice pieces on that plate. Pass that plate around, I'd like a sample..:D
