These are the rules for the Real Pool tournament that is coming soon.

Thanks,
Jim

MATCH RULES
FOR "REAL POOL".
ONE TABLE
8 active players on each team

One race to 8
Players can play in any order, but all eight must play in the first 8 games.

No player on either side can play more than 3 games.

There will be no substitutions after the game begins. Once the team Captain offers up the player, he or she can not be switched.

Team losing the first toss or lag puts up the first player.
Team winning the first toss or lag breaks the first game and picks the game to be played. 8-Ball, 9-Ball, 10-Ball, or Straight Pool. (Race to 16 with a ball in hand break and one ball off the rack).

After the first game, any team that wins a game puts up the next player. The losing team breaks the next game and picks the next game to be played.

One coach per game allowed.

There will be no practicing by team members after the start of the match.

There will be a 10-minute break at mid point mutually agreed to by both teams.

There will be no individual breaks during games except for emergencies.

Rules on each game will be mandated by the team that picks the game.(Call 9-ball, etc. 3 scratches in a row is a loss in the a straight pool game).

All disputes will be decided by the referee.

I was nodding my head until I came to "Rules chosen by team that chooses the game..."

You mean, every time we start a game we have to review a complete set of rules? Even if the "choosing" team says deuces and one-eyed Jacks are wild? IMHO that seems like wasted time and ripe for argument.

No fantacy rules

You can't make up rules. Everyone knows the rules that each game can have and they have agreed on them.

I thought this was going to be :

Big table 10 ball
Rack you own
10 spots if made on the break
Called shot Called safe
Race to 9
Finals is race to 9, must win by 2 games
1 day event single elimination. ..bring it or go home
Pay to 4
No splitting

We need more pool like above.

Are the captains players?

I’ll assume the captains are doing the lag for the choice of game and player up since it takes some kind of action to even begin the tournament.

As far as practice by rostered and active players;
are there spectator’s - paying fans in the seats for this tournament?
I’m thinking how it would be an improvement if MLB pitchers didn’t get to warm up or if a NFL field goal kicker didn’t get to practice right up till it’s time to be the hero.
I can understand having the team together for the match and at the same time, as the promoter of your rule(s), would want the players at their best performance. Maybe a bit more time between matches for player paddock time and bet placement.

We're going to get as many people to come to this to watch for free as we can. Since we aren't going to have any rules about sharking or fan participation.

Thanks,
Jim
