Real Scruggs on Ebay or just a Scam

I was browsing cues on e-bay and ran across a mystery - but what I believe may be quite a scam. A guy has a fairly beat up Schon and an "unknown cue - but you may recognize the logo". The logo is very clearly that of Tim Scruggs TS.

Guess I'm not knowlegable enough about Mr. Scrugg's cues to know for sure - but it's scary because the logo looks legit. The overall view of the cue does not look like Tim's work to me.....

My gut says "Bravely Run Away" _"Scam Scam Scam sausage eggs and Scam"

Thoughts?

The profit is if you restore them. I don't think in the condition they are they will bring a very high price. This is a deal for a cue maker.

Clues -

If you click on the pictures - they enlarge quite nicely. I have two main concerns.

1) The bottom of the points have different size "flats" in the V area. Would you attribute this to camera angle or is this normal in a TS SP?

2) The shaft is clearly not origional. It appears to be a piloted shaft - black phenolic with a metal ring even though the butt does not have any type of joint ring - making me wonder if a piloted shaft should even fit? Does Mr. Scruggs provide an option on his cues to make a piloted wood to wood joint? Wouldn't that weaken the butt joint section?

Thanks for any education you can provide.

looks ok

It looks legit. Looks like the TS logo. Also looks like a piloted 5.16x14 joint. The wood looks kinda yellow though. The cue also looks cracked on the bottom. BUt it's at $200 for 2 cues.

I am pretty sure I have seen this so called 'TS' cue on ebay before. It was advertised as an unknown cuemaker with an "ST" logo. Seemed just as suspect.

FWIW

I've owned three of Tim's sneakies. All three had a piloted wood-to-wood joint. All had uneven points and I would guess the bottom of the points wasn't much better (I never cared enough to notice?).

The shaft is definitely not original. It could be anything from a Schon to crappy import to one of Tim's.

A quick note: from what I see, it looks like it's a listing from a pawn shop. I highly doubt it's a scam, just a seller who doesn't know much.

I remember the same listing. The sneaky butt looks legit but no way thats the original shaft.

Agreed, and the cues are in rough shape but still it's a Schon and a Scruggs although that doesn't look like a Scruggs sneaky shaft. Those cues have definitely been rode hard and sent home wet.

Here is one I saw on Ebay two days ago and was wondering about the logo. I never seen any of his SP's like this, I have seen two other SP's, one with a small wrap and a matching J/B SP that had the TS logo on the bottom. I was just wondering myself.

--->Ebay Scruggs<---

I don't understand. If this were a scam, wouldn't the seller be all over the fact that it's a Scruggs? I still don't see it as being a great deal though considering the condition. By the time you put the cash into it to 'clean it up' you could have a much nicer Scruggs sneaky without the hassle.

Dont know a lot about cues but that doesnt really look like a schon to me. if it is, its not convincing enough for me to buy it. I looked at both of them and neither one looks totally legit but like i said, i dont know much about a cue other than how to use it

Both look legit to me. The other one also looks to be correct.

What am I missing here?? Why do you think they are not legit??

What exactly are you say? If you don't know what you are looking at what would it take to convince you they are real? They both have the correct logo's it seems. You say, "neither one looks totally legit" what specifically make you say that? You were confident enough to make the statement on a public forum essentially maligning the seller even though you have no idea what you are talking about.
