Derby for instance...if your are in the 700s Fargo you have a good chance of cashing? The rest...pretty much...NOPE. Am I close?
Well that depends. My expectations when entering a tournament that I have negligible chance of win place or show is to have fun. Of course support of the real pool players is a collateral goal.expect to do very well?
I am totally for entering as dead money. But I don’t worry how a player of a given Fargo will do. I entered a regional event last year. Guess what? Top 3 FargoRate players were 1-2-3. Dominguez-Foldes-Eberle. So yeah, 600 players could cash. That event wasn’t as big as Derby City.Well that depends. A tournament in Spokane where I drew Brady Golan comes to mind. Brady crushed me with a final tally of 9-3. But it was 3 of my finest games. On the second chance side I lost my focus and hence lost to a weaker player. Brady being the Ambassador to the sport, enquired as to "how did you do?" When I encountered him after my second loss. My answer was, "well I made a young man very happy." My smile was duplicated by Brady along with an appreciation hand shake.

I think that's why the high entry fargo capped events are gaining appeal. Especially those poor bastards stuck somewhere between 650 and 700 who the small events ban and the bigger ones crush. But in what moderately big open tournaments do 600-700 Fargo players really expect to do very well? Cash maybe, but a high paying finish? I took a look at the Texas Open results from last year. A couple mid 600’s cashed. SVB was 5th. just cashing got you $200. I think the entry was 100.
