Cue and case ID??

I bought this cue and am having a hard time identifying it. One very nice piece of BEM with what seems to be a oil hand finish. Points and dots are inlaid. Hand made brass pin very unique. There is a lead slug 2" down in the butt with a small dab of glue to hold it. Old bubble bumper in good shape that I know I have seen before.
Case is all thick leather half tube style. 3 brass clasps. Blue felt interior for cue and 2 shaft sleeve. Brass clasps have "made in italy" and are stamped with a upper case M. Case looks to be hand made and stitched.

Any guesses folks??

I am looking to buy this cue just for the age and design of it but have no idea who made it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Could you post a photo of the entire cue and shaft side by side?

Thanks Craig

This is all I have to work with. I know it's not much I was just hoping to get lucky. :)

Buddy, I am not certain who made that cue, but I think you have a winner, but I could be wrong. I have seen something very similar to this cue, especially the joint design but I just can't place it at the moment. I will check my reference material.

One thing I can say though, I do not believe that it is an import, I have a very good feeling that it is a custom Cue.

Take care, I will get back to you.

Interesting. For the first time I think I'm stumped. No clue what so ever. But I'm with Craig. Doesn't scream import to me.

Might want to look under the rubber bumper. Maybe take out the weight bolt. If there is one. That may give a little clue also. Pics would help

I believe the case dates to around 1975. Hopefully a very knowledgable case guy can offer an opinion on this as well.

JMO but unless someone comes out and says "I made this cue" I don't think you will ever know for sure who made it. It's interesting tho. Do t think I have a Harvey Martin level cue.

Also the case I have owned a few of. It was just a generic type case that anyone could purchase. Not sure of the maker I bought a few cues that came with that type of case. Palmer sold them in their showroom along with other cues and cases by different makers. That's just what I was told. Basically what I'm saying is the case is no clue to the maker of the cue.

For the record. Your cue is deff not a palmer

With that short buttsleeve maybe it's a Cory Barnhart from 1975. Lol. Jk

From what I have researched the only maker that used this bumper, general design, placed the weights for balance and used the material is Harvey Martin from that era. Still researching!! Thanks for all of the info Dave! Happy Holidays!!

From my research Harvey Martin never made a cue with inlays. He felt it weakened the cue. I could be wrong. See disclaimer below.

If you think it is a Harvey Martin. Call Fred at tad cues. Email him pics. He can help you from there.

This is an insert on Harvey Martin from the HOF

Martin started making cues in the 1920’s. Like Rambow and Britner he also turned Ivory Billiard balls earlier in his career. For decades more world champions played with Rambows and Martins than any other cues. While Rambows were ruling the east coast Harvey Martins were the favorite among the west coast players. He popularized the 3/8" wood to wood flat faced joint. Martin did not do inlay work as he felt it weakened the cue. He would watch a customer play and try to build the cue to fit the customer's style. You will often find Martin cues with several shafts. He would make shafts for the different type of game and equipment the player would play on. He continued building cues until 1984. That is six decades of his labor of love.

I have been doing some research And I found older Fred mali cues that used that bumper. Also I had an adam Americana with the same round bumper.

Looks like I got an ID and wanted to share. 60's Orie Holmes. Thanks for all of your help folks. Happy New year!
