So last night I'm playing this guy some 9-ball sets. The next table over is a "pool friend" of mine which I was chatting with a little. During a time when I was looking in my friend's direction, my opponent was shooting at the 2-ball and missed. I looked up, came to the table and shot the 2-ball in. Then as I was looking around the table at the rest of the layout, I notice the 1-ball still on the table. I look at him in disbelief and say "whoa, that's funny" and he gives me the exact same look. We didn't know what to do, but I thought to myself "well, I'm the last one to shoot and it's my fault I didn't look at the table, so it's definately a foul on my part. And I didn't call his foul so it must be he is in the clear." So I just moved the ball over to him and gave him ball-in-hand.

Oh well. Been playing for 12 years, never seen that before.

You were right. If you didn't call foul and then shot...it's all you. Two weeks ago my opponent shot at the wrong ball and I was nice enough (dumb enough)to say something. Last week it happened again, only this time I waited until after he shot to mention the ball he forgot about. Oddly...both times were ball in hand opportunities for my opponent.

Yeah...I've had it happen several times. Usually my opponent calls me on it because at least they are paying attention.......:):):)

I call it my Gray Hair disease or at least bad eyesight........
