KC denotes Karen Corr and EL denotes Ewa Laurance in this post. A nostalgic occasin for those of us around the game for a long time. I first saw Ewa play when she was just seventeen. She looked especially elegant in an emerald green sleeveless top and black slacks. Karen looked nice, too, in a purple blouse, but all eyes were on the BCA Hall of Famer, and not on the future one.
1. KC breaks and makes a ball but has to play safe on the two, and does it well. EL wows the crowd with an incredible jump to make the two in the side and get the shape on the three. EL clears for a 1 - 0 lead.
2. Good break by EL but has to play a one-three combo. Rates to make it, but is not up to the challenge. Corr runs up to the six but gets poor shape on it. Jacks up vertically, and makes the six and, remarkably, gets to the seven, after which she clears. Tied at 1 - 1.
3. KC hits a poor break and it looks like the cue will scratch, but it double kisses into the two, resulting in a shot. The three has no pocket and KC plays a good safe. EL makes the kick but scratches off the three. KC easily runs ot from there. KC leads 2 - 1.
4. EL breaks in a ball and makes the one but has to play safe on the two. She plays it very poorly, leaving KC a shot, from which KC clears. KC leads 3 - 1.
5. After a ten minute delay to fix Karen's micorphone, KC breaks them very well, leaving a nice layout. she then clears. KC leads 4 - 1.
6. EL breaks them well but has a bad miss on the one. KC makes the one and plays safe on the two. EL jumps and makes the hit, but leaves a long cut up the long rail, which KC misses, leaving it very deep in the corner pocket. EL it a pretty good stroke to try to bring the cue ball a\back for shape, but scratched in the side. Bad roll. Even with ball in hand, the out is a tough one, but KC is up to it. KC leads 5 - 1.
7. Good break by corr leads to a relatively simple clearance. KC leads 6 - 1.
8. EL makes four balls on the break, but scratches. KC executes the simple out, ending the match. KC 7 - 1.
Aside from rack six, this was vintage Karen Corr, and the final tomorrow aganst Allison Fisher should be a good one.

Quick question though about the Laurance v. Nelson match. What was the race?? The brackets report that Nelson lost with 9 games down. Is this a misprint?
