Recovering with Simonis 860

oh, and does anyone know where one could pick up some Scotch-weld 10 ... maybe locally? My 3 Grainger's don't have it in stock. Is weldwood that much different?

This is the same corner pocket after I got done working on the table. Corners are 4 3/8" sides are 5". And yes, it's single shimed because the sub-rails have been extended.

Other than creating a precise pocket opening, is there an advantage to extending the sub rails rather than doubling up on the pocket facings? I have a customer that wants to tighten up his pockets. I planned on putting additional facings on. Is this the wrong way to go? Extending the sub rails sub rails seems to be quite a bit of extra work. How much time, would you estimate, it takes to extend the sub rails?

It takes between 10-12 hours to go through the whole process of sub-rail extensions. Adding facings is a shortcut, additional facings in the pockets changes how the pockets accept the balls. With double or triple shimmed pockets, you end up with dead pockets, meaning the balls act like they are either hitting wood instead of facings, or a trampoline, kicking the balls out of the pocket, depending on the material used to shim up the pockets. Addional facings also deaden the points of the pockets, so yes, just adding facings is the wrong way to go, as all it is, is a shortcut to getting paid to do something that really don't work as intended...sorry if this isn't what you wanted to hear:(

No problem, it's always best to know the right way to do something. I can always let the customer know the right way to do it and the less expensive way to do it and let him decide which way he wants to go.
By the way, thank you for all your help. Your posts have helped me a great deal.
