Recuts are points cut inside of points. It gives a look similar to that of veneers. It's neither here nor there in terms of being better or worse than typical points. It's merely another construction method. Simply put, if you wanted a maple point with black outline, you could either put a black veneer on the maple point stock, or you could could make an ebony point & then recut another groove inside it to put the maple. Both would result in a maple point with black outline.
