Red Ferrulre?

Does this mean bowling balls are fair game too?

I don't think bowling ball material would make good ferrules, but one never knows. I did some internet research on how bowling balls are fabricated. Some of them have metal in them. Most have an outer core of one material, and inner core of another. I think the material might make great butt caps, but based on the construction information I found, processing one could possibly be a can of worms.

Bowling balls now are made out of a Polyester resign with usually either a titanium or ceramic type core. The very outer layer of resin is called reactive resin and is specifically designed to soak up oil that is on the lanes. The new balls have a full shaped core that is most of the center of the ball. Older balls were either a very hard rubber or other types of plastics with a smaller core called a pancake weight. It would remind you or a fisbee closer to the surface on one end of the ball.

There are a lot of old tech bowling balls around. probably just rubber/plastic compounds without metal etc. Garage sale etc. might find one made in the sixties or so....

I was just thinking the same thing. Might get some neat material out of them. If not for ferrules or joints maybe ringwork or something. I dunno.....

They would be a great substitute for pearlized rod i think as they have great swirl effects in them usually.
