We are putting together a new league at Red Shoes starting next Wednesday. We have one spot open right now.
We are ready to make up the schedule now. If you are interested, please let me know.
This league is a non-handicapped league where each player plays everyone in the league one match to 125 each week. There is a minimal $10 per week charge which includes greens fees and the house retains 50% of what is collected. You get $5 per win at the end of each session and there are high run prizes. In addition, the top 25% of the league gets paid the rest of what is left in the pot.
Most of us know going in that we don't have much of a chance against the very top players, but the financial investment is not so great, so this is not really about the money. The idea behind the league is to try to get the best possible competition and the best players in the area. Many of us will be beat badly by some of the top players, but I think it will be good for all of us to learn how the game is supposed to be played. I hope we can make it interesting enough to keep the top players engaged. We have three 200 ball runners, three 100 ball runners and a bunch of guys who have run in the 50s or higher on occasion.
We want players who will honor their commitment. This is a long commitment, however with only one game per week, it is certainly not an overwhelming commitment . If vacations or other matters get in the way, those games can be rescheduled and played out of sequence.
We are going to have a party on October 2 to get the league started. Bob Cozzolino will be preparing one of his usual feasts with sausage and peppers, so bring your appetite. We have some money left over from last session, but will need some contributions towards the food. Those who are playing on other days should come by if you can to grab a bite and meet the new players.
