Reduce Cue Weight

Every Players cue I've ever seen had a weight bolt.

Mine doesn't. It does have a hole for a weight bolt to be installed in, but it weighs 19oz as it is without it. Don't know how I'd ever reduce the weight if I needed to without boring it out a lot. Luckily, it is perfect for me at 19oz.

Chances are good that you'll still be overhitting the ball even with a lighter cue. That's a stroke/control issue. Although it's a little easier with a lighter cue, it's not that hard with a heavier cue. Also, if there's no weight bolt, your only choices are to drill out the butt (only on a cheap cue) or buy a new cue.

You're right, the OP's cue could weigh 20oz without a bolt. Either way, there's no issue with the bumper.

Thanks all for the response.

To address all of your suggestions

I bought a Players cue, because that's how good I am. I'm already 36 and I have just started playing pool few months back. I am trying to learn the ropes.

I stopped using the default American Heritage cues that came with my pool table [Costco to the rescue] because the sticks were slightly wobbly when rolled. I did myself a favor and got a decently made straight cue. It has a Kamui tip on it and its better than anything else I have used. The day I feel I have grown out of the cue, I would want to upgrade.

I finally summed up a courage and opened up that rubber plug on the back of the cue and found a 2.5 Oz bolt on it. So I guess I will buy a 6 mm Hex Key and 1 / 1.5 Oz bolt from that e-bay site.

I apologize if I sound blunt, and I appreciate everyone's response to my dilemma.

I am sure I will have fun being a member here.

I'll post few videos of my play/shots for expert opinions once I get some breather.

Thanks all.
Cheers

You may not outgrow the cue, I put a Player's HXT shaft on my $1,000 custom Ned Morris cue and love how it hits. Yes, the hit is better with the Morrris shafts but my accuracy is better with the HXT shaft, and it did not affect the feel that much. My son won a Jr State 9 Ball championship with a Players HXT cue. Most people here would agree that Players is one of the top bargains in cues, especially their HXT models due to how the shafts play.

It has a 2.5 Oz Bolt, I ordered a 1.5 Oz bolt to replace it

I understand its a cue control part too. I want to have a comfortable shoulder after my gameplay and I guess a lighter cue will help me achieve that.

That aside I am trying to learn better draw shots so practicing cue control with that
