Redusing pocket size on Gold Crown IV

I have bought a second hand gold crown for and would like to tighten the pockets up. I have looked through the tread on rail extensions and it lookks great. However, I was hoping to not have to replace the rail rubbers, they are in good condition. I have found pocket shims for sale that measure 3/16" each. Is it a good option to use these as well as the standard pocket facings?

Not really, as that's a total of 5/16"ths of facings, pockets are going to play dead, points of the pockets are going to play like wood as well.

ok, can you suggest anything else that doesnt involve replacing the rubbers. instead of using those shims could i use rubber that has a bit of spring to help reduce the deadness of the points? I would then use standard facing ontop of the rubber to protect it

Check the threads started by OTLB, and look at his extentions.

Thanks for the advice but I dont want the added cost of replacing the rail rubbers at the moment. I'm going to use the "pro pocket shims" that are 5mm each which is around 3/16". I am going to use them as pocket facings. Should they be glued to the end of the rail? If so is a standard contact adhesive ok? I dont know if you have it in US but I was thinking of something like evo-stik

Pro pocket shim? Never heard of that. 3/16 or 1/4 inch facing yes but you don't want to add these to the facings already installed or you have the situation Glen mentioned. Glue on with contact adhesive and 1 or 2 tacks but then you will probably need new rail cloth.
