First thing I thought of, knowing he pounded the featherstrips in a deep as they'll go, and unless they're at the absolute perfect thickness, set as deep as they'll go just exposes the finsh of the rail edge, no longer protected by the rail cloth over the top of the Featherstone for your cue shaft to rub on instead of the finish of the rails!Or some guys pound them in too deep and destroy the whole job……..
I never said you did bad work, what I did say is that if you're so proud of how you table looks when finished, why not share some pictures of the work you put into installing that cloth on the rails and bed cloth, you know, share some of that pride you have! Unless of course, you DON'T want anyone to see that your skills are no better than any hack job out here, right? Seeing how its an Olhausen you own, did you happen to replace the pocket facings with some 3/16" 60 durometer facings, so you could eliminate the Olhausn pocket rattle? Bet not, but if you did happen to do that, because you're so good, better than I am at least, got any pictures, I'd like to lean how to do that right

Why would a person do that to ever table? Nice firm pockets for just a little extra work. Trust me I didn't pound anything as stated before, that's why the speed square works so good. Never push the featherboards all the way in.
Yes you made some statement about a stapling, that didn't sound very positive and there are no pictures of a staple in this thread by me.

Looking at your pictures, you did fine job. Regardless how you did the rails, doesn't matter. As long as your happy with the result. I didn't like the fact. Everyone spent 2 pages, arguing about whether it's cloth or felt.
It's cloth to me. Brought, enough over the years. But we all know what he meant.
So you must have the only Olhausen table ever built that don't rattle the balls in the pockets, right?
Seems like everyone is proud to post pictures of the finished work, I just find it funny no one like posting pictures of the work they do stapling the rails or their pocket work, why do you suppose that is?

So I got this cue no the cheap side of the world. When I purchased it had plans on repairing it and using it as a break cue. Long story, but half way to sanding down the wrap, the damage completed tore out. Basic made a small whole all the way, so it exposed the wood. It was full of rot in that...
