Referees needed for US Open in Atlantic City

So if you ref for 3 days, then what? Do you pay/the weekend room rates?
Do you book your flight out the 3rd day?
Do you get room and the daily per-diem if you decide to stay till the finals?
Last year's format they had referees and scorekeepers. Scorekeepers were let go after Day 3, as they reduced from 32 to 8 tables. From that point, the referees handled everything.

On Day 3 you can choose to check out, or continue your stay with the hotel. The per diem stops, unless you were retained as part of the referee staff. As thanks, showing your staff wristbands allowed entry to come back to watch the matches. While on duty, you're supposed to wear the shirt that they provided. Many of the players were willing and happy to sign your shirt.

Well the pay offered for the responsibility is not worth the adravation, or pressure.

Maybe the people making money off the event if it runs in black, should consider upping pay to referee.

Oh now that's funny 🤣. You expect someone in the pool world to be a decent person? Damn Hopkins is still holding cash from the cancelled Expo years ago.

Well people do not want to work for Pennie’s, while other get paid well.

If so they would not be crying for referees.

This is easily a million dollar event. I ran the financials on a similar but smaller event. Three days was $150k. So figure event rental alone is probably $500k. Prize pool and whatever other expenses.

I figure that rental alone (for the event center) is free. It certainly was for me the three events I ran at casinos in Las Vegas. The casino has other sources of income. ;)

I've been to Vegas several times. This is Jersey, Las Vegas's dirty little third cousin. They are not the same.
