I have tried to refinish my cue butt using acrylic laquers here in California but it never seems to dry. Is there a particular Brand and type i.e., polyurethane, that I should be using?
Thanks.

Have you sanded ALL of the old finish off or is the new finish sitting on top of the old? A lot of Qmakers today, use an automobile clear finish....JER

Poly clear coat

I've had good luck with Enduro Clear Polyurethane. It's water based, so it's safer than the auto clear coats.

What kind of wood, and was It sealed? I gave up trying to use laquer after the first time I used It. Not only did it not like oily woods, and not want to dry well, but It turned yellow over time. If You like the antique look then I guess that would be good, but It was too much for me. Ofcoarse there may be better brand or types out there that I have no tried, beause I never really gave any a chance after My first encounter. Urethanes in general seem to work well, but are toxic. I have used some water based & polys, and was'nt completely happy with the results either. I always wanted to try the enduro, because I heard it was good, but never got the chance, and right now a urethane is working for me. sands and polishes out easier then most finishes I have tried:)
