Refinishing an ancient Canadian Falcon Cue (Ivory)

I was curious if it could be done. I own a very old falcon cue, back when they were made in Canada, and it plays/looks very good for it's age. I'd love to refinish the cue, however it has a ton of ivory in it (solid Ivory Points x8), that have began to striad from age, and from what I know ivory becomes very brittle to work with.
The cue itself have 4 major points (8 total points) of solid ivory, with smaller ebony points inside, and more ivory points between. (I'll try to get a picture up).

Main question though :
Can older ivory such as that, and that much (quite a lot), be refinished without damage to the cue?

Yes you can refinish this cue. I have refinished several cues with Ivory points that is from the early 70's and into the 80's and even newer!. Give me a call if I can help!

Thanks

That's great news :). I've got some pictures of it now, and can send them if interested.

I really debated selling the cue, as I have a stockade it seems of cues currently, and it's a wonderful cue. However, it if can be refinished, there might be a few playing day's left in it, and I'd love to use it a bit before retiring it to a glass case somewhere :)

Let me know if you'd like pic's of it. I'm headed up for the Derby City soon, and if your planning on attending, can show you in person.

Many thanks

Apology, I took the weekend off and haven't had a chance to get back on the thread. I'll send a few your way by this weekend for sure. Thanks again.

Interested in what year Falcon went over seas and how you can tell if its a Canadian or Thailand issue...?

I have a BS-7 and have been told its a Canadian cue but I don't know how to tell...

They went overseas about 6 or 7 years ago. The same owners (Peter and his son) took all the equipment and moved it to Taiwan. I expect that everything is the same as when they were in Mississauga and it will be difficult to tell the difference between cues made in Taiwan and Canada.

I agree with Falcon using ox bone instead of Ivory. And if memory serves me correctly their ads even stated this. I posted up a picture of the falcon that i have owned for 10+ years. If anyone has any information showing cue pictures with model numbers etc. Id sure like to find out what one i bought from J R Calvert out of his trunk all those years ago.
