Refinishing Black Boar cue

My friend has a nice Black Boar cue, made before 1994 I guess, because it has the old BB logo with the boad head. Very nice cue and a very solid hit. Anyway, she wants to have a new wrap installed and get the butt refinished. Since Black Boar has no website and email address (anyone ?), I wanted to ask if anyone knows how much Black Boar will charge for a refinish & rewrap ? Or if you have other contact information than a phone number I'll gladly accept them :)

Or, if you have a simple Black Boar cue to sell, I'll gladly accept any offers myself. My friend's cue is one of the best hitting cues I've ever tried... sigh.

I don't know how accurate this information is, because it is old, but you can try it. To the best of my knowledge, it is still good information.

I've heard a rumour that Black Boar cues are no longer made ? Is this true ?

mjantti,

Scott has worked on Black Boar cues as well as many other high end cue and is fully competent of handling the work you are looking for. I have used him before and was very pleased with his work. He has a gallery on his site of past work he has done. Contact him via email if you would like. He is well respected for his refinishing work and many cue dealers have used him as well.

To the best of my knowledge, Black Boar is still, very much, in business and makeing cues.

At the 2003 U.S. Open, one of the fellows from Black Boar had a TV camera crew following him around like a puppy dogs. I also seem to remember a short story about them, in one of the billiard magazines, within the last year or so.

Per the yellow pages, at Yahoo, the address and phone information I provided is still good. :D

A friend of mine just had his old fancy BB cue refinished by BB. With a new wrap and some inlay repair I believe it was about $350 or $375. It was absolutely a first class job. I wouldn't hesitate to send it back to its maker even if it going to be $100 or so more than someone else.

My recommendation is to use Scot with Proficient Billiards. His work is always great and turnaround in about 7 days. He has done about 10 cues for me and its always been first class.
