I played in my first league,(BCA) playoff yesterday to qualify for a trip to Vegas. It wasn't what I had expected.

Thirteen hours passed before the final outcome was determined. many of the matches came down to the final rack and were won on the final eight-ball pocketed.

I guess you need to experience something before you pass judgment.

I'm glad I finally broke down and joined a league. I'm playing with a bunch of guys I grew up with and that makes it even better.

The level of play was top notch and the sportsmanship was first rate.

Thanks for sharing this experience with me folks. I had no idea it was this difficult.

Tom, I had the same experience. I laughed at league people for years. Finally my friends make me play BCA league. We end up in the finals and I am playing for the trip to vegas and about 3k in cash and it's hill/hill. Well I always gamble so that didn't bother me but the pressure of letting my teammates down almost got me.

I miscued trying to draw from the 8 to the 9. I got lucky and made the 8 and had to chop the 9 across the back rail for the cheese. Wow I never focused on a shot so much in my life. When it went in we all started jumping around like we were 12. Well I will be in Vegas too. Hope to see ya.

Yes Tom, it's amazing how much harder it is playing for your team mates and fear of letting them down.. I find it less stressful playing against Efren or Rodney Morris at the DCC than playing for my team in late rounds of a tourney.

I hold up pretty well under the pressure but can say that I definitely feel it a lot more when the team win is on the line. I love it though.. I look at it as an opportunity to succeed rather than as a chance for failure when I am put in the high pressure situation.

Folks that knock the league play just don't understand. It's actually a lot of fun if you have the right mix of guys.. I've been on some teams that I loved to play for and others that I could not wait for the season to be over.. It's more about having a lot of heart to me rather than a team with great players that are not fun to play with..

I'll take the fun team any day! YMMV

its all about having fun, winning is just a bonus! forget the pressure and play your game without worrying about the outcome.

leagues are awesome and all-around good for the game.

yeah, playoffs can take forever, but if you can hold yourself and your team together mentally and maintain your focus, generally speaking you will come out ahead on those nights.
