I need opinions on whether or not a relationship is good for a pool career or for a pool player in general. is it worth it? does it mess things up? or make things worse or more stressfull ? tell me what you know from experience or from plain knowledge.

One thing for sure is that many of the top players (even room to room) never had a family till later in life. They have time to play, practice, travel and such. Many with families never got the chance to explore their ability. Add enough money to pool and the future just may change, at which point the many at the top might just probably end up in the middle. You never know..

One guy if anyone is lucky enough to know him, Pat Howey, used to play Mike S. neck to neck. Runs hundreds in straight. When Mike was touring, Pat had a family and full time job.

Just like anything else in life...it could be good, or it could be the pits. It just depends on the parties involved.

Here's the first and biggest red flag...when they say, "I think you'd rather play pool (or insert anything else in place of it) than be with me". If you hear that...run like the wind and never look back!! It will NEVER get better and only go down hill.

Btw...if you ever choose to answer that...there is only ONE correct answer...
"y'er goddamn right"!!!

I'm going to assume your talking about opposite sex relationships.

Way back in the 70's & 80's (when I was on the road for 10 months a year), I had my share of relationships. Some lasted for the night - Some for a week or two and some developed into a traveling relationship.
If your heterosexual and traveling that much, it becomes a necessity. And quite a few times, the nice looking women around, actually woke up to the fact that I was a hustler, before the players did.
I do know that the song about - All the girls get prettier at closing time - had a lot of truth to it.

My wife told me just that, so I bought the pool room. 30 years later(40 married) the pool room and us still going strong. (and 7 kids)

That's one way of doing it. Sure wouldn't have happened like that if you didn't buy the room though. You still have to cut the grass, take out the garbage, and fix everything around the house though, correct...or is that why you had so many kids? (hmmmm...NOW I know why you want kids!) ;)

I know it's not pool, but look what a women did to Tiger Woods! It took him this long....and I'm not even sure he's back yet.

Unless you are lucky enough to marry someone like, for instance, Timberly or Landshark who would understand you and who would support you through hell and high water :D

That is yet to be determined. Wait until little LandCrab arrives and starts wailing at all hours of the night, pukes and shits it's diapers constantly, and needs to be fed or rocked. I have a feeling help is gonna be demanded or else there will be some hell to pay. :D

Talking about that Swedish Model, that gives a whole new meaning when the crowd yells "You Da Man" to Tiger :D

Have you been taping my phone conversations with my ex?? Holy crap, that's exactly what she used to say! She could never understand (or accept) that I love the game and want to get better at it. About 1 1/2 years ago when I was a SL3, she actually said, "Why can't you just be happy as a 3?".

Funny thing is, I always made time for her instead of putting pool before her. Just before we broke up, I quit an APA team on Wednesdays that I really loved because it was better for her schedule. I then joined the Amsterdam team 9-ball league on Thurdsdays and she got pissed. We broke up soon after that. Oh well, my 9-ball team ended up winning the entire thing this season and I'm going to the BCA Open in May. I guess it worked out for the best afterall! :D

I've faced the ultimatum myself and have always chosen pool. It's not a life I ever want to give up. The problem for me is finding an honest guy who plays pool, someone who's both trusting and trustworthy with me.

Women Weaken Legs! If you want to become a great player, having a serious relationship is very unlikely. It's also very difficult to keep up with your own responsibilities when you're a pool addict.

I'm honest and trustworthy. If me being married doesn't bother you, pm me. :D

The last 3 guys that I dated and happen to be pool players, one of which was a Pro, all had problems with me being in poolrooms. Now how does that figure?

I hold multiple Ph.D's in "BITCHDOM", I don't need to tape calls. I probably dated her mother or one of her mother's friends.

Making time for her instead of doing what you wanted was YOUR first big mistake. Do it the next time and you're in for a life of slavery.

EVERY male should buy and read these two books:

Mawissa's picture is on the inside of the first one and she'll personally autograph a copy for you. ;)

(seriously...I'm not bullshitting about this book...this is the Bible for men!)
