Relay For Life

Hi everyone,

In June, I will be participating in a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society called Relay For Life. Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on the track at all times.

Relay is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another.

My friends, Anne & Ron, have been involved with RFL for 7 years...and this year I am excited to join them in their efforts! 96% of the funds raised goes directly to ACS!

The team I am joining is called the Summer Santas. Over the past few years, they have raised upwards of $15,000/yr through the donations of friends and family! I have set a personal goal of $750 to help raise the team goal of $9,000.

If any of you are interested in making a donation, please visit the link below. It will direct you to my personal donation webpage where you can make an online donation. There is no minimum....any little bit can help!

For all who make a donation, I will send out a photo with a personalized thank-you note. Just PM me your address once the donation is made.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

All the best,

Melissa Herndon

Way to go Melissa :) I've taken part in Susan G. Komen Run for the Cure and it is a very gratifying experience. My Mom is a breast cancer survivor.

Good luck with your career!

Thank you Roy! PM me your address if you'd like, and I will send you a new photo :)

How is the new job going? Is the relocation tough?

You're welcome Melissa :) Of course I would like a picture! But I'll take a rain-check until I get to North Carolina and then I'll take you up on it.

I've been waiting for my security clearance to get reactivated then I'll be heading up there to North Carolina. So next time you're in that neck of the woods we need to meet up! I wish I could have got there about a month ago for the Rocky Mountain tourney.

I am used to relocating quite a bit so I am not worried about it. The company that I'll be working for is covering all of the expenses so that makes it easy.
