Removal of finish dent

What's the best technique to remove a fairly deep finish dent. Thanks

The easiest way, is to fill it. If the finish is not chipped or cracked, a dent can be filled with super glue wet sanded and the entire finish can be rebuffed out and polished. This will last as long as the original finish and if the area is not cracked or chiped you will not be able to notice the difference if done correctly.

I have been doing this for a couple of years with no problem!!

Any good cue repairman or any cue maker should be able to do this. The cost will be based upon the time it takes to do the job / the size of the dent.

Take Care

Manwon, do you apply the SG in layers, or do you just fill the dent and let dry; then ws and polish? Thanks again. Raildriver

This might help ... or it might not ... depends a lot on the wood.

Take a sewing needle and poke several holes thru the finish in the dent.
Place a drop of water on the dent and let it soak into the wood thru the pinholes. (about 30 min)
Lay a wet paper towel over the dent.
Apply a hot iron to turn the water on the paper towel to steam.

What you are trying to do is get the water that has soaked into the wood to turn to steam and swell, filling in the dent.

If that works then let it dry for a day.
Then apply some finish to the pinholes, sand, then buff back to a shine.

One way that has always worked for me regardless of the finish or depth is to use my band-aid method.

I take a piece of green masking tape and put a piece of white paper towel in the center so it looks like a band-aid. I apply water to the paper and wrap the tape around the cue to hold it in place. Every day I add a little water to the paper towel until the dent is gone. Magic - where did it go?

Believe me it works but the deeper the dint ( I call it a ding) the more time it takes. I have had it take up to a week. No refinish is required - just patience.

Good Cuemaking,
